A good way to blend in your regular books with the porn titles when mom visits. Maybe this explains the "bare."

Does anyone know where the narrow table/desk in front of the windows comes from?

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear this. I hope people rally around Cafritz and help her rebuild her wonderful collection.

I'd be unable to shake the sense that I'm sitting on the lap of a most unattractive man. Ew.

Siegel of California (http://siegelofca.com/) sells the same moss and apple green leather used in Coach handbags. They probably have something that fits the bill -- they were having Friday sales on this leather recently. Call them, since the specials are not always listed. I've bought from them before. Prices are good and shipping over $75 is free.

What paint did you use on the walls? I love the color, too.

I love the "man cave" and I'm a woman. Also, books aren't hard to find if they are organized. It's a fairly clever use of space.

Beautiful apartment, and the bathroom especially! I love the fireplace. The banquette table and desk feel a little awkwardly placed, but I get the desire to have the desk near a window rather than crammed in a corner. It certainly looks more spacious than it is. Great furnishings!

I lived in DC for 15 years before moving to NYC, mostly in the Capitol Hill area. I lived in what were politely called "transitional" neighborhoods bordering the more expensive streets. It was nice to be able to walk/run/bike everywhere, the museums were free, there were farmer's markets, and I had a small yard with a garden, connected to a 2-BR townhouse on a tree-lined street that cost me $850/month in 1999.

After seeing so many white/metal "modern" apartments, this really does feel like a relaxing, peaceful "Lake" residence. Very nice!

Wow, this is fantastic! You've definitely motivated me to keep working on my own apartment. What a great inspiration for those of us in small apartments.

I like the kitchen and coffee table. Larger art or more framed art on the walls, please. The bookshelves feel stuck in that corner. If I wanted to be bold I'd get a bright throw for the sofa....

I agree with the previous: larger works (a few or a large rectangular work of art, perhaps) above and some below. Smaller ones should go at 5' which is just below the rail. B&W photos would work, but there's no reason you cannot put a single nice colorful work of art above the rail.

The chair looks awkward sandwiched between the couch and window. If it were my living area, I'd have a large plant there, and a more colorful rug. Love the couch!
