I love orangette's daily granola. It uses applesauce for some of the sweetener, so it's not quite as sweet as some other recipes I've tried. Help Me Find a Recipe for Yummy, Low-Sugar GranolaGood Questions |

I made Orangette's "every day" granola frequently, for much less than a box of store-bought granola! (Plus there's the wonderful smell of granola toasting in the oven, yum). Make or Buy? Granola |

I struggle with this with my 6 year old son. He is an adventurous eater at home, but doesn't want to take anything "weird" (like leftover lentil soup, we're not talking extremely different) because he doesn't like to answer questions from his classmates about what he's eating. My challenge is to still make him a lunch full of real, whole foods. School Lunch Mockery: How "Normal" Were Your Lunches? |

I grew up drinking juice for breakfast, but stopped that habit as an adult. It was one area where we could cut our grocery budget, and now that we have children I'd rather them have a glass of milk or water to start the day. Me - I have a cup or 2 of coffee. Are You a Morning Juice Drinker? |

I also really like the Costco/Kirkland brand of natural peanut butter. We made the switch when my kids started eating peanut butter and I haven't missed the processed stuff one bit. Peanut Butter: Is Texture More Important Than Taste? Cook's Illustrated |

I much prefer fresh-squeezed, but I also keep the bottled stuff on hand for "emergencies." I also sprinkle the bottled stuff on the fruit I slice for my son's lunch box so it doesn't brown. Fresh Squeezed Juice: An Essential or a Luxury? |

My favorite is a simple roux and heavy on the cheddar and baked in the oven, but for a quick lunch or dinner for my kids and me I skip the oven step. Homemade Mac n’ Cheese: What’s Your Favorite Method? |

My husband and son used to prefer the boxed mac n' cheese (my husband grew up with it - it was comfort food for him). I just stopped making it, and replaced it with a simple stovetop mac n' cheese made with cheddar. It didn't take long for them to prefer the real stuff! We visit our dairy weekly to purchase our raw milk (as well as eggs and our meat). I feel safer buying milk from a family I trust than buying milk from the supermarket. Plus the milk tastes better - my kids love the raw milk so much I have to ration it! Raw Milk: What's the Hold Up? | Apartment Therapy Re-Nest |

Raw tomatoes. Melons. (It must be a texture thing). Every summer I try to like them and while I can eat them now I don't enjoy it. I'll be trying again in a month or so. What Foods Have You Tried To Like, But Just Can't?! | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

One of the foods I miss most from living in New Mexico are the breakfast burritos. Eggs, cheese, bacon or sausage and most important - roasted green chiles wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. Yum. How To Make a Breakfast Burrito | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I have a wall oven and if I could only have 1 oven I'd prefer one under the range. Our wall oven is smaller than a standard oven, I can't fit 2 9x13 pans side by side, or a jelly roll pan, or a broiler pan, etc. Survey: Is Your Oven In the Wall or Under the Stove? | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I plan out our meals for the week and only grocery shop once a week. This helps a lot to keep our grocery budget in check. I do change around what to make on a certain night and plan for at least 2 nights of leftovers in the week. Tell Us! How Do You Decide What To Have For Dinner? | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

I actually have a chicken carcass in the slow cooker right now. I keep a bag for veggie scraps in the freezer and after I've roasted a chicken (this one I roasted on the grill - no pan to clean!) I throw the carcass in the slow cooker with whatever veggie scraps I have waiting and ready to go - it cooks while I sleep. In the morning I strain the stock and put it in the fridge for a few hours, then skim off the fat. I usually store it in 2 c. quantities. I love the frugal, sustainable feeling of using every bit of my food. Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Homemade Stock: What's Your Routine? |
