My father is from Sardinia and we loooove Bottarga.
A piece of advice? It's a little expensive, but it lasts a long time.
Buy it and store it away. When stuck for a quick dinner, simply grate some bottarga over spaghetti al dente and sprinkle with oil and pepper.
Tah dah, dinner is served.

I started gasping when I saw gthe space and the photos: this is EXACTLY how I envisioned my home that is about to undergo renovation. i live in an attic in Milan that is heavily in need of renovation. In my mind...it would come out looking like this. I'm taking this picture to my contractor!

You all should come to Italy, were 40-year-old still live with their parents, spend all their money on trivial stuff and never grow up.

Oh, and when 30 year old men want to move in with their girlfriend, their mother says "Why?! She can't clean and cook as well as me".

The dog is a Merle Australian Shepherd http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Shepherd. That's their "look".

Anyway: I kind of feel partial towards a dog house that seems bigger and nicer than my own.
Mybe I could sleep in there and let my little Cavalier have the bed.

On my own skin: my shopping vs my boyfriend's shopping...
Same grocery store, largely different bills.

I buy fruit and vegetables and higher-quality products, he buys cheap junk. We're currently in an incredible saving crunch to achieve some objectives and, often, in order to shop well, we're often broke.

When money runs out, I don't have supper. He goes to McDonald's. I prefer to fast than to eat that stuff.

There you have it. It's not the supermarket, it's the choices you make in it.

As a fellow-Milanese...I totally unerstand.
In milan bathrooms and kitchens are all long and narrow and "weird". It's because most pre-war flats were split in two or three ...resulting in odd shapes and strange facilities.

My father, originally born in the wonderful island of Sardinia, cannot finish a meal without cheese and mostarda.
Also, I suggest you try it with roast beef: great stuff!

It might not be OCD, but it's quite a commitment in the war on germs!
I hardly ever get sick and am not allergic to anything really.

I feel maybe the sanitzing spree might be a little American. In Italy we are very house-proud, but it's more about the shine and the order than the germs. [It's actually funny to see the different supermarkets in america and italy and how the cleaning detergents are advertised :) ]

But what happened to the old "building up immunity" thing?

I am a big fan of your kitchens and not because I like cluttered kitchens.
I love minimal, all-hidden-away-Scavolini white kitchens.
But then I wake up... and: reality check! I live in Milan, in the only tiny home I could afford to buy and my kitchen is 1.5mt long!
So it's incredibly cluttered. Just like yours.
But you, my dear, do it with class! Bravissima.

And the chalkboard paint with all your fav recepies is super smart!

@simplyoanna
I get it now: it's 34m2 but only 29 are "livable".
I guess I was just envious: my flat is 30m2 but looks a lot smaller!!

@home body Just read the article you linked.
Good stuff.
I never understood the difference between shy and introvert and, having little patience with people, feel I might be a closet-introvert.
So it's shy people I can't stand...

Never had introvercy problems, and find introvert people kind of annoying.
So, as a host, I make everybody drink their head off.
That usually solves the problem.

Everytime I hear about party and invitations, I can't help but think about David Thorne's "party invitation".

Got to do that to someone.

Ok...This is NOT 302 sq feet.
It can't be 29 sq mt and have 2 bedrooms.
I loved the place at first, cause I live in an attic, but was utterly dissapointed by the few photos and the fact that, well, this flat cannot be smaller than 30 sqmt.
Sorry, not possible.

Love any idea of smallest&cheapest.
Many of us must make do with what we have.
I mean...if we had more cash...we wouldn't be living in a small&cool to begin with, right?

I looked and stared at this place for a while.
Then I realized: I don't like.
Why?
Cause I'm too poor to have real art work hanging on my walls and gorgeous wooden floor boards from Utah.
