I've never understood bookshelves full of tchotkes and curated vignettes. As far as I'm concerned, bookshelves are for books. Lots of them. I live in 1-BR apartments and tend to use what's allotted as a dining area as a place for shelves. I currently have four bookcases that are pretty well stuffed as full as they can be. You can pry my books from my cold dead hands. Heh. Liveblogging Day 12: A Sort-Of Book Purge Liveblogging the January Cure |

Very nice. I particularly like the whimsical art breaking up the otherwise very designed, more formal aesthetic. Liz's Decoration as Meditation House Tour |

Love it! Every time I consider moving back to NY, I sort of stop in my tracks thinking about how much stuff (including an astonishing number of books) I have. This house makes me feel like it might be possible to get it all into a small place. Though I don't see a massive collection of clothes and shoes here, so I am probably screwed after all. :) AJ & Alex's Eclectic Shabby Chic Queens Apartment House Tour |

My shelves are sort of a mess. Some are organized by genre/theme (I even have an entire shelf dedicated to Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald), others by size (some books are too tall for certain shelves), and some just by where they fit because I am running out of room. But, I've lived with them like this for four years, so I know where everything is. http://www.flickr.com/photos/queendork/3534714296 9 Ways to Organize Books: Which Is Your Style? |

Gregory, oh, for sure. I was just being a goofball, not trying to be snarky. The only times I have thought about upgrading are when I'm watching my beloved hockey team and thinking about how I could watch in HD if I had a new TV. :) But, like I said, a TV is a TV for me, really. Not that I don't appreciate the better picture quality of new HD TVs and BluRay, etc.; it's just not that essential to me. I'd rather blow $1K on a pair of shoes. Heh. Aw, I still have a CRT--two of them, actually. A super-impressive-looking-to-all-my-friends 19" and a 13". Honestly, I have no desire to replace them until they die. They're TVs, they work and allow me to watch TV. Boom! Saving $1,000 right there. :) Also, a monstrously sized television isn't my thing. I think I'd still buy something under 30". I like this place a lot because it's shares a similar aesthetic base to my own, but still looks very different than my house. Christina's Stylish (with a Touch of Humor) Home House Tour |

I find the giant television set more of an eyesore than the DVDs. Do You Judge Those Who Keep Hard Copy Media? |

Sounds a lot like the German Killepitsch, of which I am an enormous fan. Try a Little Bitterness: Fernet-Branca Straight Up Cocktails and Spirits | Apartment Therapy The Kitchn |

There's nothing on TV I need to see that desperately. That's not to say that I don't like and watch TV, but, generally, I just don't care enough to *have* to watch something. That being said, the four or five shows I do watch are always available OnDemand the following week so I can catch them without a DVR. Could You Live Without Your DVR? | Apartment Therapy Unplggd |

It sounds pretty good for a $60 dock. Fills the room plenty and can be heard from the adjacent bathroom and my little reading nook outside the bedroom. It's not powerful enough to fill the apartment (I have another dock in the kitchen), but it's good for what it is. Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Look! Ha, ha! I finally gave up my ye olde tyme Montgomery Wards stereo unit that had the dual cassette deck and turntable in it when I got the Crosley last year. I'd had that unit since Christmas 1987! I still have a cassette player and a ton of tapes in my closet, though! :) Apartment Therapy Unplugged | Look! Mini Audio MuseumAll that's missing is an 8-track and tape player! |
