What a great blank space to work with. I've been working on a small section of my son's back yard over the last 2 years that has a similar structure. Wish I had taken before pictures. In the after, there's virtually no room to plant, hang, or set anything else.

I'd use it to extend that smoker as far out of my apartment as possible.

Ahhh, so I am a Triple H. So glad to have a name for my style. This makes me realize how much practicality meshed with ingenuity and uniqueness was a hallmark of the various hippie pads I've lived in or visited since my first apartment. Not limited to the 60s by any means. As I recall, decoupage and macrame were short cuts to styling a true piece of refuse, such as a broken down milk crate.

I had this oversized plastic elephant that became expendable when I committed to downsizing. Goodwill doesn't take toys so I stuck it in a tree. What the heck, why not? That elephant sat there for weekds. Yesterday it was gone. Today I see this fabulous idea. I'm praying that the moral is NOT that I need to hold on to everything, just in case...

There were a few pinyon trees in my home town. If you knew where they were, you didn't tell anybody. I'm still in the habit of checking for random pine nuts under the trees as I walk by. Imagine shelling enough of these tiny bullets just to get a spoonful of nut. I never eat pine nuts now (knowingly) for fear of getting a bad batch.

Biting into a watery avocado is the worst. I just can't wrap my head around a thawed avocado tasting anywhere near as good as fresh. Maybe if you know for a fact that the avocado is, indeed, perfectly buttery in texture before it goes into the freezer.

Don't do the ladder thing. You can go down, but intruders can climb up! On the other hand...if the area is secured, all kinds of Swiss Family Robinson inspirations spring to mind!

Between yesterday and today's selection, you'd almost think the color-line hadn't been broken. There was an outstanding and inclusive display of baseball art at the George Krevsky gallery in San Francisco. I think it's come & gone, but he does it every year, and it just gets better and better.

Katlian, what a brilliant idea! Even with all the rains the SF Bay area has had lately, I still can't bring myself to waste water from the tap.

I could fall into that first pic. I remember the first couple of places I lived when I moved out on my own. Were those the most comfortable, most colorful, most enjoyable, rooms I've ever had? Maybe it just seems so because I was more free-spirited back then. Or maybe because I hadn't yet acquired this trainload of possesions that burden me now. Sigh.

I love polenta. I hate the idea of making it, so this is great. I always buy those tubed polentas so I can slice and fry and cover with home-made tomato sauce. It occurs to me that I can make my own ahead of time, just roll it into a log and keep it in foil. Off I go! To the microwave!

Number 1 has a certain bohemian charm that is totally lost in the transformation. But I understand the desire to un-decay a sweet little corner of the world like that if it was something I lived with on a daily basis.
