I made this yesterday, and it's almost gone today. I think it's the best banana bread I've ever made! Surprisingly still very "banana bready", but with spots of yummy surprises. Recipe: Tropical Banana Bread with Macadamia Nuts, Pineapple & Coconut Recipes from The Kitchn |

I love that you used beige and a glossy white trim to make the room warm and bright at the same time. It certainly freshens up the space. Is there even decorative molding under the window sill?? And I disagree with the comments about the table being too big, I think the shell alcove needs something with grounding to balance it out. I do the same with packaged mushrooms, but am glad to know that it's the right thing to do! And thanks for the tip about the wild mushrooms. Any suggestions for cleaning mushrooms? I never know if a good brush-off really works on ones that are visibly dirty, or if packaged ones even need to be cleaned at all? How to Store Mushrooms: Two Methods |

I agree with deirdre42, I like that this is an ironic and fun use of seashells and that it doesn't take itself so seriously, like a lot mirrors, frames, lamps out there. And looking at the store's website puts in in context--what a fab looking shop! Whimsy 101: Give Your Bust a Seaside Makeover |

I really appreciated this post. Because I live in an apartment, keeping the Christmas decorations from overtaking our space is a yearly challenge; these photos provided great examples of simple and CLASSY decorations. And even with more space, I love the less-is-more approach shown here for the holidays. It's fresh! Keep It Simple: Subtle Holiday Decor Inspiration |

Potluck at Midnight Farm ... a cookbook by Tamara Weiss that she compiled with Carly Simon. I picked it up at Simon's store on Martha's Vineyard, and while it covers all 4 seasons, I find all the recipes fresh, light and reminiscent of summer year round. It has gorgeous photos and fun party ideas too! 12 of Our Favorite Cookbooks for Summer |

Great post! My husband and I are swapping our little 1br on the UES for an apartment in the Latin Quarter in Paris for 10 days this summer. We went through homeexchange.com, and we'll let you know how it goes, but so far it has been really fun. We get emails from all over the world, people really want to visit NYC! I too grew up on American cheese (and the Kraft mac and cheese with the orange powder!) and then stopped eating it when I found out what was in it.... But I have to say, in the last year or so, I've been having a slice every now and then for a treat. I agree about the grilled cheese (nothing summons up memories of summer like a grilled cheese with american by the pool) and burgers. I think what turned me around was a cheeseburger at JG Melons in NYC, there's just nothing like it! Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | In Praise of American Cheese |
