Rozewalker: I was in a similar situation for the first 5 months after my son was born. We lived in a (rather large) 1 BR, with the crib in our room, and I would wake up from every sound. At that age, it was mostly OK b/c I was still feeding him overnight. Here is my advice: invest in a Pack-n-Play (or similar) and set it up in your living room. Put baby to sleep in the crib in your room and when you are ready to go to sleep, transfer him to the Pack-n-Play. That is what we did and it was much better.

We have the Antilop, too, in red. It was certainly well-priced, even with the tray and the little cushion for baby's back (which we stopped using after, like, one week). However, our son, who is now almost 11 mos. old, will climb right on out of it and would continue to climb across the table--even though we strap him in! Do others have this problem? Also: everyone else (not my husband and me) is always tripping on the legs b/c they splay outwards.

I agree with LSwanson on putting baby to sleep in the Pack and Play when you go to sleep. We were in a 1 BR with our infant son's crib in our room and the Pack and Play in the living room until he was five months old. When he was sleeping in the crib, I could not sleep b/c I would wake up with every little noise and snuffle. We started putting him to bed in the crib and then, when we were ready to go to sleep, moving him to the Pack and Play. He did not wake up during this transition (we turned off all of the lights). When he did wake up a few hours later, it was b/c he was hungry and I would feed him.

We moved to a 2 BR when he was about 5.5 months old. Now, at 8.5 months, he sleeps through the night or, if he wakes up, he can put himself back to bed with the aid of a binky. We put all of his binkies with him in the crib in an array around his head so that he can find them if/when he wakes up.

A screen would also be a good way to go b/c oftentimes, if baby can see you, she is not going to go back to sleep.

There was a componobile in my brother's bathroom when I was growing up and my mother bought them again as end tables more recently, as did my husband and me. We love them, and since our bedroom = baby's nursery right now, they blend right in. I highly recommend them!
