not to sound like an advertisement, but i love dr.bronner's soap for washing dishes and for laundry especially. it leaves our clothes feeling soft w/out any fabric softener, and smelling good. we use it in our apt. size washer and don't need a lot of it. never had any problems with it; no need for extra rinsing, no sensitivities or horrible static like from other detergents.

i secretly lust for pink or magenta walls *there, i've said it to the whole world* but have not been able to fully commit to...yet...for way too many reasons to list including looking way to 'little girly'. i'm so used to a natural kind of modern, with neutral woods, black and white predominantly.
BUT, you come along and make pink look sophisticated rather then 'little girly' and just what i've been looking for to inspire me to make that leap!
SO, i was wondering if that is a pink wall or just the light through your curtains? if it's paint, what is the name and brand if you don't mind telling? thanks!

abc123, since this post is called how to exercise an x from your abode, i assume also your life, i thought i'd stick to the subject and contribute from my own recent experience...with some humor.
but, yes, not all x's are the same just like not all relationships are the same.
if you feel inspired by love letters and poetry that reminds you of the good things and makes your life fuller, then great :-) i thought that too, hence i kept love letters to remind me that there were very 'good' things about it even tho the break up was extreme and fated.
however years later this person in his own way discredited these good things upon re-entering my life and i felt like a real idiot for believing in fantasy (he lied to me) and almost getting sucked back into it!

sometimes there is worthwhile reason to keep something, like a shoe that fits, or the ring from your grandma that you really love but don't wear...and keep it because you loved her.
you will know what is good for you by having a good feeling around these objects, other times exorcism is due, like the title states :-)

as for me, i'm at a place in my life where 'less is more'..as in 'more room for more new experiences' to enter into my life! cheers! :-D

ps - would it not suck to meet a potential new partner and fall in love with them only to find out one day they have a box of all their x's? ...enshrined...in a time capsule...eewww.
polyamory is not the issue, ghosts are!
but then i can't help to wonder about myself?...being a photographer and lugging around all my old negs wherever i go...oops! LOL!

never lock the mementos and love letters in a box for future...future what? future ghosts emerging from pandora's box opened a decade later and haunting you? eeek! this recently happened to me. i gracefully forgot only to open it and torture myself later! and you will be as the memories flood back in, especially with stuff unresolved, yet the person is not the same one you have these memories with, and nothing can be done about time that has passed. it gets very confusing.

so, if the good stuff is 'really' there at the core btw the two of you, you will reconcile someday and there will not be a need to remember, you will create new experiences with the past behind you. who doesn't like a clean slate? who needs a guy (or gal) coming out of the woodwork years later and telling you 'remember? we were in looooove?' why oh why tell me this now?

have a little purifying fire ceremony and invite close friends over so they too can bring their x's stuff. or donate it, or recycle it (make sure you shred it first) there are many creative ways to get rid of things and it feels liberating.
DON'T drag that box of stuff through every freaking move...unless you are a masochist... or like baggage! ;-)

we get big fat ants in the area every year, and if allowed they will come inside and make themselves comfortable...rather too comfortable imo. so i treat all the entrance ways with some peppermint oil. either dabbed on or sprayed on (diluted). they absolutely hate it! you can see them recoil in disgust as they try to walk around it to no avail. plus it's affordable and it makes the home minty fresh!
(do test it before applying to painted surfaces)

ohhhh sooo good! thanks for posting this and reminding me to make a pot. i crave hot tasty drinks during this cold/wet season upon us...and i'm trying to stay away from too much coffee. not only is this a great substitute for it, but the ingredients in it are also superb for the digestion and making the body warm. thank youuuuuu!

i once remember coming back from a trip to the grand canyon, one that did not involve any creature comforts including shampoo. on my arrival back home i went to a beauty store, no names mentioned, and the woman asked me what i 'did to my hair' because it looked so amazing!
i replied that i have not washed it for a week. she in turn looked at me like i was some kind of freak and i left the store feeling uneasy and turned off. this made me realize some things about the whole beauty industry.

all my life i could never stand the chemical smell of shampoo - they try to mask it but it just stands out more. so for the last two decades i've used the no sls shampoos and whatever most 'natural' products i can get but i find they leave a residue and make my hair limp with a weird texture. i've done the vinegar rinse for years to get rid of that texture and have used lavender and rosemary oils to help the scalp.

today was the first time i've ever tried the baking soda and i love it!!! i already don't shampoo that much and have a less oily scalp so this was easy to do. i'm definitely gonna keep this up. thank you!
i'm just curious how this method will perform after a chlorinated swim, as i do swim a couple x a week.

thank you so much! i'm so happy to see our work give back in so many ways. this has been quite the project and we had an almost non existent budget to work with, plus a few headaches convincing people it was safe, etc.
just shows, anything is possible to accomplish!
i do wish now i could upload the before pics of the old deck boards. this was by far the biggest and simplest improvement
