Another option is to get a portable ice maker. Many of them definitely don't look as nice as these ice buckets, but they give you a continuous supply of ice so you don't have to refill it. When the ice melts, it just reuses the water to make more. This stainless steel portable ice maker looks nice & holds 2 lbs of ice. The best resource I have found for small spaces is CompactAppliance.com! The site name says it all, right? I don't live in a super small space most of the time, but when I travel in my family's RV the ice maker and dishwasher from this site have been amazing. I should convince my parents to buy that Miele vacuum. Whenever I visit them, my allergies act up because they have 3 dogs. I keep a dehumidifier in my bedroom during the summer to help with my allergies (which get pretty bad here in Austin). I bought my little home dehumidifier here which I use with some HEPA filters that work wonders. What's even more environmentally friendly is a push reel lawn mower. My parents have a small front yard and my dad uses a gas fueled push mower to trim the lawn.
