You need to think of it as if it were a train. Leave an aisle, and do small vignettes all down the outside wall. Cafe tables and chairs work well for this, but I also like the idea of pairs of theatre seats facing each other. Just make sure you don't get too crowded. You can do a porch swing at the "top" of the L as long as there is no door there. Just leave enough room so that it doesn't bash into the wall when it swings back. (Read: Children are SUCH dears.) I remember places like Bed Bath and Beyond doing big packs of dishes, flatwear and glasses for really low prices. Craigslist for sure.
