I vote for installing some floor to ceiling bookshelves there. It would do away with the walkable space there and also be a useful storage location. If climbing the shelves is an issue you could always put doors over the bottom portion of them. How To Baby Proof This Stairwell? Good Questions |

I think the original rug would have looked great in the after. It had both the blue in the walls and the red from the brick. It had much more character than the plain-ish one. Before & After: Joanne's Warm to Cool Living Room Transformation |

It seems so disappointing that they painted ALL the wood. I would have left the ceiling natural wood, it would look nice with the white without making it feel too dark. Its just too stark with only white. Before & After: Family Room from Dark to Light |

Does anyone know whether the Pearsall rocker was ever replicated by other companies? I have a remarkably similar chaise, with the exception that mine has been unfortunately (and poorly) reupholstered. I haven't been able to locate any tags on it yet, but perhaps when I recover it I will. Blade & Amy's Modern Miscellaneous House Tour |

The art on your couch wall is quite lackluster in terms of scale. Thats a big wall, so it needs a big piece of art. Maybe you could add another side table on the other side of the couch. And since the table looks too small for lamps, perhaps you could hang some over the table(s)? I agree with the siding things out from the wall, but I would only pull them out by about a foot, since that is a walk through area. That table looks odd sitting so close to the wall. A few small shelves on each side of the vent hood and a hanging pot rack above the sink area might give you enough room to shuffle things around, but still maintain an open feel. Both of those updates could be done relatively cheaply too ($100-300), but it just depends on how nice you want it all to be and what materials you use. Storage Suggestions For Our Open Kitchen? I just made this for dinner. Forgot the basil and used feta instead of goat cheese, but it was very tasty. Cooking everything in the bacon grease makes it taste rich and smokey. Recipe: Squash, Bacon, and Goat Cheese Pasta with Basil |

I saw this set in person in the artist's studio at the EAST studio tour recently. While being pretty, it did leave a few things to be desired. The table wobbled on the legs. Probably a combination of the small legs attached at few points and the heavy weight. Also, the artist mentioned the surface sealant wasn't right; it was crackled. Perhaps large scale manufacturing will prevent future surface mishaps. Over all, pretty, but I wouldn't buy it if it wobbled. The crackle looked nice in my eyes, despite the artist's dislike of it. TBH I liked the kitchen before you painted it grey. Now it just looks juvenile and nothing really jives. The stainless paired with the while appliances looks eh. And the grey looks a bit dark, does it make the room look smaller? I dunno, maybe its just the weird cropping of the photo. Is This Backsplash Makeover Worth the Effort? |
