I spray the surface of the soil with insecticidal soap, repeatedly. I think it works, but the plants eventually head outside in late spring where they get the new does of pests..

To keep your weapons secret, I recommend closing your curtains or blinds, and of course if the weapon of choice has a "safety", then by all means, keep the safety on!

Does anybody know a good source for the wall lamps shown in the first (blue nook) bedroom?
I have been trying to find something like that for our non nook bed time reading....

I have this on a parlor wall. It is a bright chartreuse that is yellow in the day and green at night, and works beautifully with the art on the walls, the crisp white molding, trim and cieling, and the wood fire place. I bought the paint in Providence RI at a store called Adler's. Great place. The paint brand MIGHT be C2, but I can't be sure. In fact I don't think so. I do know that the paint color is called "Regardez-moi!", no surprise there. When I told the paint mixer that I was putting it on the walls, he whistled and said, "Watch out for low flying planes". Indeed.

You made it see so easy: Chair, lamp, book.... But each time I try it, it just never works out! Maybe there are more thorough instruction on WikiHow, RealSimple and Martha were no help at all!

Yikes
Use succulent/citrus specific soil when repotting succulents.
No need to use plant food when repotting with MiracleGro potting mix, or rich potting mixes like that. Read the bag, that kind of soil usually says no liquid fertilizer needed for months!
Fertilizers can be be a tad shocking for plants in new pots, with potentially damaged roods: Give the chemicals a rest.
Do it on newspaper, or we will need a "clogged sink hack" post.

Those examples make no sense at all: Take a room that is a total dump/catch all/refuge of forgotten trash, empty it, then furnish it. Is this a challenge? Really?

Mr Architect
Definitely the grey one. The other looks like those illustrations of the waifish children in rain slickers looking sadly at the miniature village/tamed wild animal/rain puddles (pick one) that are so omnipresent on the likes of Tiny Showcase and Etsy.
And oh, the grey one is really nice.

These books on shelves add a really great look to a room. I have seen books in thrift stores, which have to be cheaper than the kind you buy in regular stores in the mall.
I'm gonna head out this weekend and get me some, and color-up some dead space in my tv room.
Great idea!

Most local governments discourage "collecting" plants.
Federal laws prosecute for doing this.
It's called "poaching".

Make note: A colorful lampshade that lets light pass through the shade impacts the color of the walls and furnishings nearby. Nice if the wall is white, but if the shade is orange and the walls are dark blue... kind of muddy.
