We were scammed by a moving company once, so for a recent move from Boston to Chicago, I did my due diligence this time around. We used Prager (based in Naperville) for the Chicago end of the move and they were great.

If you google moving scam you will find a great website with a lot of tips. There is also a link with recommendations for moving companies in each state and in larger cities. You have to dig around for it. I'm not sure if I can post links here...?
