i kinda of like the grey. i am usually a fan of color, but the blue you have is quite bold. but i m not too sure if you wanna paint the room with colors like orange and green. its quite comical and sorta remind me of Ugly Betty's house. well ... i guess you should just get over it and pretend it's not an issue. i have no problem walking around naked or just in my boxers with my windows open. most of the time, people aren't looking and minding their own business. and chances are, they are either your neighbor who already know you, or they are strangers that you will never see again. Try arranging the chairs and couch differently. i'd put the antique red couch around 2 feet in front of the window, facing the floral couch. Then move the two orange/red chairs to where the red couch is now, facing the "fire place." This might look more balanced and the two big couches aren't right next to each other. hm ... instead of reupolstering the floral couch, it might be easier changing the rug i suppose. the colors look fine together in the picture. i just thought the patterns of the couch and the rug sorta clashed, though it looks like you pull your colors from the rug. perhaps something in stripes? one thing that concerns me, are all the sunlight coming in from around the shelves. we all know what UV can do to books, and a book lover would hate to see their books discolored. oh .... and 1 more thing, what about earthquake? i think i'd use this as the dining area, and purpose ur dining room for something else. or just put a round table in the middle and put flowers. and it really depends on ur interest. library if you read, bar if you drink, a studio if you paint. my place is a no-shoe zone. it just doesn't feel like home wearing shoes. in fact, i only wear boxers in the house. imagine how stupid one would look with only boxers and shoes. i live in san francisco with plenty of asian population. most people who come to my home take their shoes off themselves, and others would follow. in fact, i have a bench next to the door for that purpose. when i'm the guest, i always ask at the door. i think guests should respect the hosts' house rule, just like no indoor smoking. its kinda ironic that the concerns from the people who are pro-shoes are stinky and sweaty feet with fungi. but how do feet get those? because of wearing shoes that doesn't help ventilate! i think the pro-shoe people are mostly people who drive and live in the suburbs, coz their shoes only touches driveways and parking lots.
