IMO, anyone visiting a friend who's just moved, regardless of the duration of the stay, is not really in a position to complain about furnishings. Especially when it shows such thoughtfulness.

My mother had just finished an entire tray of Cornell chicken, and between the oven and the yard, slipped and the chicken fell to the floor. The guest of honor came in to check on things and found her slipping the pieces back onto the plate... the floors had just been cleaned so neither of them ever said a word.

That's a pretty great idea...much nicer looking than just tying it to the nearest doorknob. But I wonder if one could DIY it with a wire hanger or something, $70 seems a bit much.

I used to fill travel mugs with noodles or soup.

Criv227 - to let it "breathe" and get the desired flavor. Kind of the same effect as swirling it around in a glass or warming it with your hand.

Antique stores often carry them (better to check the blades for nicks, though), and could probably name a dealer or two.

Kindles aren't bad as long as you don't mind Amazon deleting whatever they feel like.
