I'm an architecture student studying in Helsinki right now, still trying to keep up with AT when I can, and I'm just smiling right now seeing this post - I thought Aalto was great before, but now that I've started experiencing all of his buildings here in person, I am in awe - a designer who will truly influence my own architecture as I continue my school years and beyond. Glad to see he's on your mind as well.

I like the idea of "making" it - always will mean more to you if it's your own blood, sweat and tears that went into it :).

Painted white, and replacing the glass panels with mirror - could achieve a similar look.

Okay, here's my two sense:

I'd paint the vanity a glossy red - maybe erring on the raspberry side (instead of orangey-red). Then, I would replace the hardware with something fun/kitsch that resembles the tile color. Anthropologie has a ton of knobs, such as this one:

I would paint the walls a neutral white (not too cold or too warm - think Behr's Decorator's White), and have white towels, floor mat, shower curtain (easy to bleach, too). Maybe a few bathroom accessories that combined the sea green and red colors.

In California, I'm pretty sure by law a landlord has to repaint an apartment between tenants, but I'm not sure if it's required each x number of years.

I'm with msmezzo - will probably have to prime my walls when I leave, but it was so worth it to live in an apartment painted the colors I chose.

Mid-C Frank, I must have been your neighbor, because I recognize it too. I like it, though. It's nice to see this little house not taking itself too seriously.

I loved this game, too. And, I remember in later years, we changed it to "CMASH", and the C stood for castle - I guess the mansion was just not big enough ;).

It's not originally by her - this mirror is all over the place - it's imported from India or Africa. I was recently at Berbere Imports on La Cienega, and they have several of them - and for much less than $2600.
