This is by far one of the funniest threads on apartmentherapy.

If your friends are anything like my friends, you want every possible tool at their disposal in that arena.

Keep the chairs but pair them with a different table.

There's a great set of glasses by Schott Zweisel called Tossa. They are a bit on the pricey side, but they're a heavier weight and made of a titanium crystal so they're gonna last a little longer than regular glass.

ANother great choice, though less visually interesting, are Convention by the same company. They're about 1/2 the price.

Everyone has their own experience with glassware, obviously, but I've seen two Schott Zwiesel wine glasses literally banged rim-to-rim (and I'm talking kinda hard) and they survived. I've also seen them hit with quarter-sized metal ball bearings (like the kind in those five hanging ball office toy things) and just ring. Will they survive a fall against granite counters or to the floor? Maybe... but probably not.

Crystal is made with metal to make it stronger; by using titanium instead of lead, these glasses are both safer and stronger than traditional crystal and certainly better than normal glass. That being said, something thicker might be more to your liking or more fitting for those rough-and-tumble wine and cheese parties.
