Love this wine shop... very quaint. Also they have a back room for private dinner parties... these are the stores NYC used to be made of.... not all of the commercial chains. Nice to see....

Also, an Idea, possibly take an older window frame replace the panes with mirrors and make kind of a shutter on hinges. This way you can still open up if you felt the need for the natural light ? Just a thought....

I say GO FOR IT.... the only way to learn is to "DO" ... just think if you do not like it you can always take it apart and start over.
I agree with the comment above, draw a template and cut a plywood insert throw some cushion and fabric on it and staple the to underside of plywood..... insert the "finished plywood" into the chair seat and there you have it your first little project... don't get discouraged and remember as long as your happy with it that is all that matters....
Most of all HAVE FUN!

I actually Like it...I would have it in my apartment no question about it... I am working on a skull project as we speak... I think it is rather personal and it's ok if someone does not care for it .... because there are sure to be people out there that will care for it. As for merging the 2 ideas I also like this idea....if we kept all ideas/art individual most ideas in the design world would not exist.... it's just my opinion... I enjoy the post thank you AT

After all of the necessary crying "crap-o-la".... I reach out to all of my girlfriends that have NO DOUBT been there through every "unhappy" time we (him and I) have ever had and celebrate NEVER having to have another unhappy moment with "HIM" again..... ;) While out enjoying the nightlife with my chick-a-rellas .....I also, if available, I will kiss the first cute/interesting guy I see....but that's just me....

Then, the next morning.... I deal with not only mentally "evicting" him from my heart..... but physically as well... I personally do not have the heart to just throw things away...right away. But I can pack the memoirs into a nice box to later bravely reminisce on all of the "good" times him and I shared....
I see this is a NYC post..... LOTS of men out there tonight.... LOTS......GO .....girl just GO....even if you do not want to.

Painting the wood is a good quick fix.... Brilliant idea....
Perhaps....another "multi-weekend" project/idea could be stripping the wood (although with the carvings it may be difficult....) to a lighter more natural wood.... and just keeping it natural...
Personally I adore the green... and as for the 70's ..... I enjoy that as well...
Maybe try to embrace it rather than...reject? hopefully this mind set will bring on more ideas....
good luck it's BEAUTIFUL!!!

I am a dog owner.... he is a bit crazy at times so I completely get where your coming from....

Just a thought... what about high bookshelves? Like wrapping around your room nearing the ceiling ? I have always been a fan of the way it looked.. and... when the baby comes.... then it will eliminate him/her getting into the books as well.....
you can do more than 1 row maybe 2 high and above....

it would be kid/dog friendly.... ? Just a thought.... Good luck your dogs are beautiful....!

I was at the "offline Meet-up" last Wednesday.... and it was a wonderful night!

Rachel is a kind and sincere person. Just sitting there listening to her adventure in Shabby Chic.... was brilliant. I believe Shabby Chic will remain around for a long time.

Apartment Therapy did a wonderful job in making all of us (and it was a large group) feel comfortable.

Thank you and I am looking forward to the next meet-up.

I painted my living room 3 times.... I finally got the color where when I sit in the room it makes me happy especially when the sun pours into the 2 giant windows...
It is actually close to the second blue you painted... and I put accents of black white and linen.... I am almost finished decorating...
From my experience, sometimes when you finish painting a room and all of the furniture is in disarray... it looks terrible... putting things in its place and sitting/ getting to know the color for a few days helps alot!
Your place looks beautiful... relax and enjoy ...hang some artwork that helps too...

For out door lighting.....I would do lanterns with little tea lights.... you can hang them from things and run along the ground.... all different sizes.... it makes outdoors much more inviting...(Marshall's on 125th street sometimes has a great selection for not so much money)
and maybe go to your nearest fire department...and ask about a nice fire pit this way you can have outdoor fun in the wintertime as well...
maybe just surround the edges with flower boxes (large) and benches... for additional seating....
ENJOY!

First of all, DO NOT murder the dog..... as dog owners we adapt to ...ehhhmmm ......certain behavior... at times and After all...."stuff" happens.... dog or not...

I think the sofa is great.... find a similar fabric....and do the seat... there is bound to be someone out there that is capable to do the job....
that's it... very simple solution.... putting money into something you love is worth it in the end...
and .... as a fellow dog owner.....
After the "revival" .... always ....always ...always...place a blanket or sheet or something over it to protect..... ...
It's the price you pay for unconditional animal love....
good luck!

Just a thought, what about giant shutters.... Like they do in Italy ....then you can swing them open and have the day light pour through....

I am not sure where they would sell/have them in the US... but I am sure not impossible to find....?
Just a vision I had while looking at the photo...
good luck the windows are wonderful!!

I feel like it is very....hmm... cold.
Almost as if everything has been staged.
The only personal touch I am able to see are the books.
That being said .....it is just my opinion ...and that's what makes this wonderful design world so diverse...I guess
I actually admire people that can live like this..... ZERO CLUTTER... I wish I were that type.
