tortilla pinwheels -

Filling:
Cream Cheese
Chopped black olives
Chopped Green Chilies
Garlic Salt
Pepper

Mix all the above together. Smear a healthly layer of filling on one side of a flour tortilla. Roll the tortilla like a burrito, but tightly. Slice into 1/2" rounds (like a cinnamon roll) and chill for 30 minutes. Filling could be a combo of almost anything...endless combos.

I have a beautiful homegrown Meyer lemon to contend with. I can't decide exactly how to use it, but I'm really beginning to think lemon cheesecake.

I gave my husband a vertical smoker for Christmas. We haven't used it yet, but we're planning. We're even talking about putting together a blog...Casa de Smoke. Look out.

How are they prepared in the photo above?

I order anything fish/seafood oriented, including sushi. Lamb and other non-mainstream proteins. Gnocchi. Deep fried items. I rarely make any of these things.

HOWEVER - I do order things I make at home to get ideas for improvement or tweaking.

When I was little, my mother used to bake the most moist whole chicken ever. And she used it to make ratatoui in the oven as well.

It looks like it's right out of a JC Penny catalog from the late 70s.

My mom's yellow rum cake. It was glazed with sugar and rum and so moist. Every winter holiday since I was a baby.

I use my recently roasted and frozen Hatch green chiles sauteed butter with onion and tomato. Smother half steamed zucchini with this mixture, add lots of cheese and pop in the oven until bubbling and melted. SO good.
