I have had really bad luck with renting over the last few years :( I have been a renter for 18 yrs. I've had some creepy landlords, etc but the worst was a few years ago. Moved to a small town from the big city cause I had just had my second baby. The house was a very cute 1950s 2 story on a huge lot surrounded by newer monster homes. This house was one of the few original houses left in the neighborhood. I soon came to find out why the others had been razed. . . Landlords: The Good, Bad, and the Bizarre |

At first glance it looked nice and spartan. . but yeah. .the globes? lol @ globe city. They look kind of scary, actually. The single candle with the holder over the wash basin also looks weird, to me. But otherwise I really like the colours and the matchy matchy wood and the blanket on the bed. good concept but the execution with the eyes on the side are iffy, and you have to be great at sewing to do the elastic cuffs and edging on the mask. Still, great inspiration for the excellent seamstresses! Cute kid, too :) The Cutest IKEA Hack Ever Leben met Liv |

I love black walls. I recently painted my master bedroom a very dark navy blue, almost black, and they look great. I have a white upholstered bed to help break it up, though. Black on black is just about the ultimate look to me, though. Reminds me of some of the vampire homes in True Blood :) The Power of a Painting Project: Bold & Beautiful Black Walls |

Can you just say, "I'm sorry, I've done all I can. We try to be quiet to the extent that it hampers our quality of life. my kids slide down our carpeted staircase all the time. it used to scare me and I used to try and stop them but I just let them do it now. they somehow know to keep their legs out in front of them so they don't trip over them or anything. they just slide down on their bums going bump bump bump down each stair! My landlords got upset when I just switched out some of the lighting. But it was truly bad and I stored theirs very carefully in tissue paper in boxes in the finished basement and just put up plain "boob" lights. They had things like, 80s style kitchen lighting (stained glass, really, really ugly with grapes and apples marked out on them. . .in a bedroom; or a tiny little glass globe, the sort used in closets, but in a very large bedroom.) I will replace the original fixtures when we move. They certainly didn't mind when I asked if I could paint, all neutral colours. I found it ironic when they asked me to not use any bright colours when meanwhile, I had to paint over a glossy bright red living room wall that they did themselves :/ Before & After: A Brooklyn Kitchen Gets New Subway Tile Brooklyn To West |

Fascinating. I guess this is what a place looks like when someone can afford large-scale pieces of original art and seeks to showcase them at home. Very foreign to any home I've ever been to, and so very interesting to be able to see. Kris' Comfortably Glamorous Home House Tour |

I am sorry to say that it also doesn't look very special or designed to me. The window isn't being taken advantage of, and those blinds?? The artwork doesn't seem to be in scale or balanced with the elements of the rooms, the bookcases do look quite cluttered, which isn't a bad thing, it's just weird that everything else is so sparse and then packed into those cubes. It has so much potential!! Mike's Decluttered Design Den in London House Tour |

I think the strangest part is the built-in seating near the staircase. Would anyone actually hang out there? I like the rest, especially the library. Before & After: Erik's Empty Attic to Marvelous Master Bedroom Suite |
