Hehe, I went onto Apartment Therapy this afternoon to root around for inspiration to build a cabinet for my living room, and as I scrolled down the page I saw this picture of my living room! I was delightfully surprised and also extra inspired to get cracking at my next project, but I thought I'd respond to a couple things first.. The dining table, I think is what Bwayp is asking about, is from IKEA, the dining chairs were a refinished craigslist find, the sofas (which I don't love, and have spent a lot of time trying to make them 'work' are from Jennifer Convertibles..one of them is a sleeper sofa, aka our guest room) The dining room color is BM Grey Owl, and the Living Room color I can't find, but it's something like BM Storm Cloud or Storm Grey? Also, the portrait above the fireplace is a portrait of a relative of my husband that was painted by my husband's great-grandmother. I've looked into 'kitchen composting' a few times, as I am interested in composting but much like you, live downtown and don't have a suitable outdoor space to use. I would recommend you look up (possibly on amazon) kitchen composters, there are a variety of types available that claim to not smell. There are some pretty fancy ones that get a bit pricey (~$500), but I've also seen some for around $40 Apartment Therapy Re-Nest | Fall Green Cure 2009: Discussion Board |

The door is from Home Depot. It's a metal door, which is great because I was able to use its magnetism to make the curtain attach on the inside (not to mention random fun magnets!) Apartment Therapy DC | My Great Outdoors: carma358's Front Porch |

Unfortunately I don't know the name of the grey paint that was used on the house. The house was this color when we bought it, and when I went buy touch up paint I had them match a chip of paint I'd removed from the house, so sorry I can't be of more help! Go for it! I saw the pics of your backyard on your blog, I love the concrete planter box, can't wait to see what the space looks like when it's complete! Apartment Therapy DC | My Great Outdoors: carma358's Front Porch |

thanks so much for all the great feedback, I'm so happy I could share the project! To answer a couple questions, I've been told black (along with other colored mulches) can contain harmful chemicals that can seep into waterways etc. I know there are colored mulches that contain pesticides and insecticides, but I haven't done enough research as to know where to find them. The rocking chairs were a fluke find, I actually saw them outside of some store that sold random leftover and overstock items, I wish I could remember it's name..If anyone is in the Baltimore Area I could probably give directions though! Myshkin, my front door also opens into a living room, its not quite the same set up as yours, but this is the solution I came up with, hope it helps! (the box in the corner was there when we got the place, it's hiding some plumbing, but it makes a good table for odds and ends!)
