I had the same issue where paint and the skim coat of plaster basically peeled off the wall to expose the "brown coat" layer. After searching the internet I suspected that incorrectly painted walls (laytex and oil layered on top of each other) and rehydrated calcimine may have been to blame. So i had to scrape and sanded off as much as possible. Then washed the wall in TSP solution. It was then sealed with "gripper" a sealant for masonry found at home depot. Then used a skim coat of joint compound for plaster walls until it was evened out. Texturized it. Primed again. Then paint.

As a new old home owner I have recently been asking myself a similar question...to paint or not to paint. I want to avoid the peeling cracking and chipping that can happen with acrylic paint on wood. In my research I came across lindseed oil paint. It might be something that could work for you. http://www.solventfreepaint.com/

I usually include Alice Waters suggestion of salting the bird prior to cooking. Try to at least do it for a few hours ahead of time. The best flavor results are when it is done 24 hours ahead of cooking - but lets face it I am sometimes not that together.

Another suggestion is that you can mix it with a commercial beer or an overly carbonated home brew. Try variations until you find one you like. Sounds a bit crazy but can actually taste great and it not unheard of, for instance Newcastle is a mix of old and new ale blended together.

My husband is an avid home brewer and this happens more than you would think. But don't give up hope too fast it might be able to be saved. There are usually two reasons for it being flat, a lack of active yeast or not enough sugar for the yeast to eat. You can buy some high quality yeast at a home brew store that is good in high alcohol beer and a little bit to each bottle and cap it back up. In 2-3 weeks if it still hasn't carbonated then you can purchase Muntons CarbTabs (they are small white tablets made of dextrose) and add them to the bottles according to the instructions.
If all else fails you can make carbonade. A traditional belgian stew made with beer and meat. However flat beer wont be so good for bread as it is flat and wont have the yeast or carbonation needed to lighten the loaf.

Happy brewing.

We have two cats and have noticed that in the warmer months they stop using their beds. So we began switching out their beds for a folded blanket or thin pad (it helps collect their fur as they tend to sleep in the same places).

Also we have one cat that loves to play with anything you might think of as trash – milk tops, milk rings, twist ties, tape, etc. I think my friends wonder why I have a bowl of trash next to my couch until they see him carrying a milk top around in his mouth.

Looks like a great idea. Last year I discovered a less sophisticated version at a friends tree trimming party - small origami boxes with wings. They are pretty easy to make and there is no cutting or wires. Plus the bonus is the small hole in the body is perfect for slipping over tree lights.

I also had the stinging nettles pizza at Chez Panisse not too long ago. It was delicious and I have been looking for the nettles ever since - but I have still not seen them in the Los Angeles area (I am sure they just don't grow here). Good Luck
