C8te,

Pets can ride metrobus and rail in a carrier as long as they stay in the carrier. ( http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/faqs.cfm#pets ) With any pet I'd want a secure carrier anyway because it is such a strange experience for them

Though I have seen a woman let her Pomeranian out on the BWI airport bus. In her defense, the poor thing had probably been locked up all day.

I make crustless mini-quiche in muffin pans and freeze them. For breakfast I'll tak out two and warm them up in the microwave. You could add flaxseed to up the fiber.

Coconut flour is extremely high fiber (6 g in two Tbl). You could use it to make muffins, bread, or pancakes ahead of time and then freeze them. The flour is low carb but somewhat naturally sweet so you can use less sugar. Since you're making it you could replace the sugar completely with a subsititute.

Bread or rolls with a good crust on them would probably do alright.

On the sweeter side: I imagine biscotti or mondel bread would travel well providing you packed it so they wouldn't tumble around.

Not baking - fudge, cookie mix jars, drop cookies (depending on the structure when set).

Great post. I am a fan of the carbonated water and will be getting my own seltzer maker in a few months. However, I would like to point out tonic water has more than "some sugar" in it. The taste is misleadingly bitter. Twelve ounces of it have 32.2 g of sugar. It has more sugar than some sodas. Don't drink it while thinking it's healthier than using soda as a mixer.

I think the seltzer machines and siphons are making a comeback because people are trying to get away from soda and it's greener. If you use them to make your own soda you have more control over the ingredients. Besides, who wants to haul around all those bottles anyway?
