Wow! where on earth did you find those handles?!

Nice job, preserving the quality of the original piece and amping up the modern edge!!

I have a tiny vintage apartment with a tiny vintage bathroom. LID DOWN! The toothbrush holder is on toilet side of the sink. Right where particles would fly around if the loo were flushed with the lid up. Eww.

But, because my building was originally housing for nursing students in the 1950s... all our toilets are the industrial kind, with no tank... the flush handle is right there on the pipe (like in a public RR) so you have to put the lid down to flush. I win.

For those suggesting an under counter fridge.. the woman is a SENIOR - do you think she wants to bend over every time she wants to eat or drink?

Lovely. So nice to see something for girls that doesn't remind one of Pepto Bismol.

I'm normally in the DON'T PAINT THE WOOD camp... but I think this is lovely.
The raw wood was too oppressive. This is light and gorgeous.... beautiful changes to the fireplace to add interest.

Fully lovely.

Maybe someone could make the rubberized sleeve for them... like the glass baby bottles and travel bottles that recently came out.

I'm sure painting a beautiful brownstone PINK is a sin! Whoever did it is clearly going to straight to hell.

[sarcasm font off]

But seriously. Awful. I hate pink in the first place... but maybe if they'd painted some detail instead of pouring pepto bismol over the front of the building - it might be redeemable.

ugh.

I think grandmas can say that because they know the kid doesn't understand it!!!
Geesh, ease up.

you all must be from the generation that parents revolved around the kids instead of the other way around. If you got ribbons just for showing up - you're part of that generation.

I have a friend who does this. She liked the idea until winter rolled around, and she has a cat at the door in the evening, meowing for a walk in the cold!

But she continued... the funny thing is as they walk through the neighborhood, Jack still likes to explore trees and she or her husband is stuck at the base of the tree, leash in hand, arm up in the air!!! All the neighbors know them.

I think I'll stick to the messy sewing box too. Seems like it just goes with sewing to find random treasures in the middle of a project.

You all act like hanging mops and brooms is a new concept! I hang mine inside my hall closet, on the door with special broom hanging hooks (ACE Hardware)
In fact, even when I was a kid, mom just sort of shoved them in the kitchen closet and I wondered why we didn't hang them neatly.

What is with the IKEA snobbery? We just got an IKEA here... and I'm considering a sofa, because every other sofa I really like is over $1500. That's just not feasible seeing as I need to eat.

I'm rather patient when it comes to buying furniture. I've been saving up for a sofa for years - the one I wanted initially (from another store) was discontinued.
When I moved into my condo, I promised myself not to buy any new/ new to me furniture for the first six months because I thought it would be better to know what REALLY worked and what I REALLY wanted instead of buying placeholders along the way.

In that meantime... I even had a guest say to me, "This wall needs something." no kidding? should I just slap something up there? No. I wait until I find something that I love and that I can afford.

I ended up buying a 1960s McCobb style credenza that gets WOW reactions whenever someone stops by. I will have it forever and it will find a place in any home I have in the future.

Looking back, I've kept most of the furniture I've ever bought because I have to love it first.

as an aside, when I told my mom I spent $500 on my credenza, she gasped! (she has not seen it, as she lives in another state and I go to her for visits. ) because I think she spent $500 on her sofa and loveseat together... but they lack style and aren't even all that comfortable!

asibtroy --- that's exactly what I do but I didn't have a name for it!

but if i love it $10 and it turns out to be $12, but I still love it... get it!

I've even said to shop girls... when the price tag on something alarms me, "I don't love it THAT much. I love it $50 but I don't love it $300!!"

That is a brilliant makeover!
I would not have even allowed that table in my home as it was... this treatment added loads of needed style! Great work.

I too, would have stained the seats of the chairs and used the white wash look on the rest ... but I don't oppose what they did at all!

All in all - NICE SAVE!!

That was pink. this is orange. Big difference.

Winter decorations any time... holly - ever green swags.. what have you.

When it's time to plant paperwhites for Christmas blooms that's the first thing... followed by advent items, like the advent wreath and candles.

The tree doesn't go up until December 8th - The feast of Mary's Assumption. (My mom did it that way, so I will too - although I think she did it that way because we had that day off from school and it was a good activity for snowbound kids - Catholic school observes such holy days) But I like it because it's not too soon - and shows some restraint.

Then we keep the tree and creche up until Epiphany -jan 6 - which is the end of the Christmas season.

Better I think, to observe the liturgical Christmas season than to just go nuts decorating for no reason. But again... I keep the wreath on my door until the end of winter.
I suggest a distinction between Christmas decorations and winter decorations.
