Whatever you do, don't get any with red dyes! I used to work at a coffee shop and the red ones curdled milk/cream basically on contact!

Will the old RSS still pull in the "family" posts, or do I need to set it up again?

I have a 3 month old.. Our family room has a jumperoo and a play mat. There's a swing in the TV room and a bouncy chair in the kitchen, plus toys, a bumbo and a tummy time mat that move around the house.. My husband isn't a fan of all this stuff, but she's the new boss!

Extracts! One year I was going to make mint chocolate cupcakes and I couldn't find any mint extract anywhere. And I tried about 5 different grocery stores!!!!

Happened to a friend of mine (in Canada so I guess we're not getting the European version here either!). She was baking squash and RIGHT before it was ready, BAM.. the dish just exploded in her oven.

I don't like it.. she looks weird. I thought it was some kind of alien Sophie for a joke or something at first glance.

Yeah I've never even heard of this.. what happened to just washing your hands thoroughly before you start handling the foods?

That said, I would consider it only for dealing with garlic.. that smell stays on my hand for min. 1 week, no matter what I try (lemon juice makes it tolerable but I can still smell it!). But even then, to me it seems a little silly.

Genius, pure genius! Like Slow Loris points out, I do spend a bit of time laying everything out to try to minimize scraps, but it's inevitable with normal cutters. This would save so much time from having to re-roll the scraps over and over (and you wouldn't be left with that lump that's too small to be re-rolled to a cutter size that ends up being a lump-shaped cookie)

Although I do agree with Schewd on that downside.. some scraps do tend to make their way into my mouth rather than being re-rolled.. hehe

Oh PS, speaking of the same thing under different names, have you guys ever pointed out that HFCS is called glucose/fructose in Canada? Something I didn't know for a long time so went around thinking I was avoiding it when I wasn't!

Honestly you're probably right that it's similar to HFCS, but at the same time I think it's unfair to jump to conclusions based on assumptions. Maybe some more digging should be done before writing it off and getting angry..or maybe that's just me.

My brother saved a neighbour's kitchen when we were kids.. the cupboards were engulfed in flames from unattended french fries left in a pan of hot oil.. my brother (he was probably about 8 or 9 at the time) ran in with a fire extinguisher and put it out!

I personally haven't had any of these mishaps, but my mom on the other hand.. well let's just say she's not allowed to cook grilled cheese, and she goes through at least one set of element covers a year!

I didn't even know it was a trend! I'm making a chevron blanket for my first right now.. I'm so trendy and didn't even know it apparently!

Love love love this! My husband and I may consider doing this since we're not a fan of our counters in the kitchen, and we like a little DIY in our lives!

Kevin, I believe that yes, you can put glass - they actually do that kind of thing ALL the time on the DIY network to add interest. I've seen them do beer bottles and wine bottles, and the rings from the necks are very cool looking!

I gotta say, that Germany one looks a lot like it could pass for a Toronto one if you ask me.. CN Tower, Union Station (with streetcar), St. Michael's Cathedral, apartment buildings, traffic..

I agree with foodiebuddah.. the bacon craze was because you can put bacon IN and ON so many things rather than being just about bacon itself.. like bacon maple cupcakes, candied bacon ice cream, bacon chocolate chip cookies etc.

Also tacos already had a craze a couple years ago.. or at least fish tacos. It seemed to be more of a west coast thing, but I'm on the east coast and still heard all about them!

I was just telling my husband on the weekend something about my brother making God's eyes when he was in daycare.. and my husband had never heard of them.. thanks for the link, now I can prove I wasn't making it up!

I don't know about those stroller hooks. A lot of strollers I've seen (I'm a bit past 5 moths pregnant with my first, so I've seen lots lately!) say not to hang anything from the handles.. the last thing you want is for your bags to out-weigh the front of the stroller and pull it down!

I saw someone suggest the peanut butter cup s'mores recently too, and it makes TOTAL sense.. those things melt if you look at them! And since I seem to be super into them while pregnant, this will definitely be something I try next time I'm at a campfire!

My husband got me this one for Christmas: http://www.starfrit.com/Products/KITCHEN/KITCHEN%20GADGETS/ChoppersChippers/93087.aspx?sc_lang=en-CA

I think he said it was $15. I've never used another mandoline, but it seems to do the job! My only complaint is that if you want to make french fries with it, they have to be shoe-string since it doesn't have a wider option for them.
