This is something I'd like to get into a regular habit of. I'm not so bad, but my husband is a total screen fiend. I recently bought a huge pile of books, so I'm quite excited to cuddle up with a blanket, an animal or two and try to finish a book. Looking forward to it!

Sounds like some little girl has a pretty awesome grandmother! :) Tea and books... she'll cherish those times forever. xx

I think this is doable in 15-20 minutes. I don't have a huge place, but it does get messy fast. It might seem like a lot, and maybe the first week through would be a bit of extra work if it has been a while, but if things are kept on top of, they don't take that long to clean properly. I set a timer sometimes for 10 minutes, just to see what I can get done, and I'm always surprised... in a good way! ;)

Shifrah, I think I will try following your schedule. It could definitely work for me. Thanks!

I think I have a sufficient landing strip set up. My problem is trying to break the habits of the other people in the house. I think we can all relate?

I put my back out on Friday morning, so I'm behind on the kitchen. Maybe today I'll keep working on the kitchen, and simultaneoously come up with horrific punishments for those who dare to kick their shoes off at the front door, dump their school stuff all over the stairs, and bring in junk mail that should go directly into the blue bin.

I'm really excited to purge the drawers and cupboards. This will be a very rewarding weekend, I can feel it! Our cupboard space is reeeally limited, so it will be good to let some things go... and I have some old canned goods that I made that are definitely past the point of safe consumption. I think the major sore spots in our kitchen are the mugs, the baking cupboard, the container/lid nightmare that I see plagues many of us, and the cupboard which I have been shoving mail-to-be-shredded into for over a year.

I'm giving myself today to cuddle up with a hot water bottle and some advil... then tomorrow, it's on!

Sunday, we shall dine on Poisson Meunière... because the only thing better than a clean kitchen, is one that smells like fish. Wait... no...

Wow! I read all the comments and it really is so inspiring to see what everyone is getting up to!

I pulled the baseboards off in our living area about eight months ago. Eight. We have been baseboardless for nearly a year. Inexcusable! Alors, my project for the month will be to get the baseboards on there. I also need to pull up the ones in my dining room and replace them too. I should be able to do it in an afternoon, which makes it even more embarrassing that it has taken this long. My parents have extra baseboards from their kitchen reno, and I'm going to use those.

If I find I have extra time, I want to get started on our master bedroom closet. It needs some help. I sat on my bed and spent my 10 minutes staring at it. I need at least another 10 minutes. ;)

Good luck everyone!

I only managed the kitchen, dining and living room floors this weekend. I got down there and scrubbed so hard that I pulled a muscle in my hip... ha ha ha! Aggressive cleaning, indeed.

It felt so good to wake up this morning and walk on those sparkling clean floors!

Looking forward to this reflective exercise, and catching up on the other floors today. I'm loving the January Cure so far - thank you!

That was really, really fun! I surprised myself by spotting some extra Ikea bits and pieces... only missed the bedding. I love these rooms, and totally subscribe to the high-low idea. Thanks for the fun quiz!

We have a bus stop right in front of our house. I think I'm used to it during the day, but at night, it's still pretty jarring to hear it. The motorcycle noise during the summer drives me up the wall... that and people racing their luxury cars down the street in the middle of the night. I prefer urban noise to the busy suburban ruckus that we have here. A steady hum, rather than sporadic explosions of obnoxious noise. I think after nearly four years in this house it's starting to grate on me. Thank goodness for the giant hedge and the new windows, otherwise I might be spotted out in the driveway, yelling at people in my nightgown!
