I love the show! I'm certain some of these scenarios are staged but I have no doubt she
deals with some extreme clients. I am also in the high-end baby retail business and have come across my fair share of unprepared, unrealistic mothers-to-be. In my experience, they come around once they hold their new baby for the first time.

Oopsy Daisy makes maps like these on canvas mural-style (flat canvas with grommets) or canvas stretched on a frame. Visit their website www.oopsydaisy.com. They should have a store locator. They run around $250 for a 40x30. Some can be personalized.

Unfortunately, it is not going to work the way you would like. Also, because it a cotton/poly blend, it will be difficult to dye it a darker color.

My daughter is an only child so she has always received an inordinate amount of gifts. To help my daughter learn the joy of helping and giving to others, we ask her to choose old toys to donate after Christmas and her birthday. If she receives 10 new toys, she selects 10 to give away. (This started to work well when she was 6 or so, old enough to consider others).

I love the Jenny Lind-style crib but I agree with erinmck12--any Jenny Lind-styles have been recalled. Check the recall status online before purchasing one used. Also, be sure you have all the parts. Contact the manufacturer directly if any are missing. Most manufacturers will supply replacement parts free of charge. If you don't have all the parts and can't get replacements from the manufacturer--don't use it.

When my brother and I were little, my mom dressed my brother as a lumberjack in one of my dad's plaid flannel shirts. She then put Karo syrup on his face and stuck coffee grounds to his face to look like a beard. It was awesome! I wish I had a photo to share.

I love, love, love my sleep number bed!! We just moved into a larger home and bought a king size one and gave our daughter our old queen size. We all love our sleep number beds. They are perfect for couples. Definitely try one! I don't think I could sleep on anything else--memory foam beds creep me out for some reason--but I am interested to hear about your experience with the Hastens bed.

Keep the shelves. Paint the wall a fun color then paint the shelves a complimentary or contrasting color. These shelves are a great place to display stuffed animals and keepsake items out of reach (and those noisy, annoying toys grandparents like to give). Definitely lose the curtains.

I do drive but I found it totally unnecessary to purchase the infant carseat. It seemed like a waste of money. If we were out and about, I just put her in a sling. My daughter hated being in the carseat anyway so I'm glad I didn't bother.

Firstly, I'd like to advise against carabrob's suggestion to use a crib sheet. Sheeting fabric is not suitable upholstery weight. Kitty Kitty will shred it in no time. Also, I do agree that microsuede fabrics wear extremely well, come in a variety of colors and can be purchased for $10-$20 a yard. Also, if you plan to reupholster yourself, do rip out all fabric, foam, etc. and replace with new to reduce the chances of dust mites, bed bugs, etc. Quick tip: rub Lemon Pledge or some other kind of lemon-scented wood polish on the wood and Kitty Kitty will stay away from the chair.

As svmum mentioned, the knot holes tend to bleed through. Wood is kiln-dried before being processed for lumber for furniture, etc. Pine is very difficult to dry completely which is why you don't typically find painted furniture made from pine. The resin will seep through and show knot holes over time. Primer will help but you will need to paint several coats over and touch up over time. You might consider another color or even staining dark if you think the knot holes bleeding through will bother you.

A large-scale, tone-on-tone damask or floral pattern in a bright color would really update this chair style. You might need to supply your own fabric but it would be worth it. Best's fabric styles seem to be very traditional.
