I, too, would like to know the source of the fire pit chairs. Also: the paint color in the bathroom. Very nice!

I was mighty happy after the birth of my daughter that I had saved two boxes of my larger clothes, much of which I hadn't worn since before I married. Because if there's two things I hate more than shopping for clothes, it's spending money on clothes that I'll only wear for a short time and shopping with an infant in tow.

In an ideal world-- one in which I'd invested in Google stock early on-- I would furnish my home entirely with pieces from Room and Board.

Transit maps from far away cities make great wrapping paper, too. Try a New York City subway map with a small apple ornament attached to the bow.

Another nod for Gulliver here! The go-to book "Baby Bargains" gives Ikea cribs an "A" grade for value.

I'm glad we went bargain-y on the crib. It made spending $1k on the Monte "Luca" glider a bit easier to swallow.

I love the look of Room & Board furniture, but I'm always so disappointed with the craftsmanship of anything there that isn't a classic Eames or Herman Miller piece. Last weekend I stopped by to fondle the Anders dresser I spied in their latest catalog. It looked great front the front-- but oh the disappointment when I discovered the drawers are pressed wood and veneers. :-P Nineteen-hundred bucks for this? Ikea-quality furniture should have Ikea prices.

Can anyone suggest a furniture company that uses quality construction (solid wood, dovetail joinery) and has a modern aesthetic? I'm considering Spectra Wood and Gat Creek dressers, but wish they looked more Heywood Wakefield and less Shaker. Any advice is appreciated!

I bought a Bernhardt love seat at Z Gallerie in 1998. I don't remember the model name but it cost about $1400 and it has feather and foam cushions, easy-to-clean fabric and a mid-20th century shape that I love. I'm not sure if they still carry this brand; it seems everything in ZGal has changed since then!

My tip of the day: I would definitely stay away from Scandinavian Designs. My husband bought a sleeper sofa there less than 5 years ago and it has since fallen apart. Really shoddy stuff.
