I was able to get on at 10:30 am this morning and bought a few clothing items. It didn't seem like that much was out of stock at that time, maybe 40% of the stuff, and nothing disappeared from my cart, which surprised me.

Anything you sit or lay on (sofas, chairs, mattresses). I could never buy without trying first to make sure its comfortable. Reviews are so subjective, one person's hard as a rock is another's just firm enough. Plus all those things are difficult to return because of the size.

There is a 10% post wedding discount at Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, and I think Macy's too. I've wondered what's to stop people from registering just to get that discount. My husband and I used the discount to my a tv stand and a mattress (we did actually get married though).

Wow, that chair is amazing. Looks a lot like a beautiful blue velvet tufted chair they have at Jayson for $1200.

My mom has two large wingbacks from her front room that she always wanting to post on Craigslist. The quality and condition is great, but upholstery is strangely textured peach color.

I have a very similar one from CB2, but they don't seem to have them online. Bed Bath and Beyond must have something like this though!

My experience is purely with Craigslist Chicago, but using keywords is really hit or miss. There are great apartments with poorly written posts (usually they are being rented by the owner without the help of a broker or management company). You might be searching for wood floors, but the ad says all new oak floors, or you search for washer and dryer and the ad says w/d.

I used to totally disregarded any ad without pictures (under the logic that if the apartment looks nice why not have pictures?) until my husband came across a post for an apartment meeting all our requirements in our budget in our desired neighborhood (first one we'd ever come across), but it didn't have pictures. We went to see it anyways and it turned out to be really nice, the owner just didn't really understand how to use craigslist.
Contact the lister even if the ad is crappy and doesn't give all the information you may want. A crappy ad will probably mean less competition and more chance you will be able to negotiate on the price (although it might just mean a crappy apartment). Go see as many places as you can, don't trust pictures alone (I know in Chicago many brokers repost pictures of other units in the same building, etc.).

Beautiful building and I love the color of the wood, but I would probably add some rugs to define the spaces and add warmth.

I understand your dilemma, my husband is also a gamer and hates tv's over the fireplace because they are too high to watch comfortably. I would put your tv stand diagonal in one of the corners beside the fireplace, unless it is too large for that. Hopefully you can put the sofa paralell to the fireplace and still have a good viewing angle. Otherwise, put the sofa paralell to the tv stand once. We had to do this once with a large room that had windows, doors, and the open kitchen on four sides.

I wouldn't do this because storing the old books would be a pain. Also, unless the guests wrote something really special, I wouldn't go back and just want to reread their names and when they were at my house. My husband and I decided not to have a guest book at our wedding for these reasons. If anything, I just save the thank you note if it contains a really moving message.

I really like it, especially the rugs (I'm looking for a rug for my house, so I am super sensitive to rugs right now). Looks much more "travel inspired" than the other "travel inspired" apartment that was posted today.

Beebob, the same thing happened to my parents around the same time! It could have been the same company. Were your parents moving from Philly to New Orleans too?

The worst thing that has happened to me was movers said they would arrive at 8 am one day. I drove an hour from friends house where I was staying, sat in an empty apartment with no wifi, tv, furniture all day, and then they showed up at 10 pm and the building wouldn't allow moves after 9 (and I had clearly told the moving company this). They were furious and I was furious.

I'm in the same boat. West Elm has ones as big at 9x12. The Madeline Weinrib ones come huge, but are quite expensive in larger sizes. I've been combing through overstock.com, Home Decorators, and Rugs USA, although you do have to sort through a lot of hideous stuff.

I would love to see more posts on buying rugs. They are so expensive and I am very confused about what makes some so much more expensive than others.

I bought my condo from a couple who was in this situation! They divorced in October but were still living together, with their son, in March. You would think they would have been desperate to sell, but it was very hard to work with them. One person wanted to get it sold and get out and one wanted to hold out for more money. From what their realtor told my realtor, the divorce was not entirely amicable and that was the reason why the condo was in poor condition when we purchased it (neither party wanted to clean up for the other one). I worry about what the long term effect of their son seeing that kind of behavior might be though.
