I even get embarrassed in the store when I buy bologna once a year. Oscar Meyer and white bread. One weekend a year, I eat bologna and white bread sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And I like to alternate mustard, mayo and miracle whip. That and cosmic brownies.

I only buy Kraft mac n cheese once a year and make my favorite childhood dish: browned ground beef well done beyond recognition and doused with Lea & Perrin Worchestershire (sp?) sauce served loosely atop Kraft mac and cheese. Divine. And oddly not ashamed of that one, even though it's basically deconstructed hamburger helper.

Cookie surprise! For best results, pull it out of the oven before it is too done, add a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream to the top and serve family style with multiple spoons if that doesn't gross you out. This is the best thing ever.

I had the pad tai craving tonight! Weird. Otherwise, chocolate, everyday. Tex Mex every friday afternoon, I grew up going out for it on Friday nights. I craved a cheeseburger like mad for the first time in years this past weekend.
Kettle potato chips after years of only wanting tortilla chips and salsa. I used to crave milk and be able to drink it by the gallon, but now it makes my nose itchy. I recently went thru a vinegar phase and I'm still adding balsamic vinegar to any soups or pasta dishes I make.

This is a TexMex Legacy -

Matt's El Rancho in Austin -

In the late '60s or early '70s, former Texas Land Commissioner Bob Armstrong asked "Little Matt" to make an appetizer. He wanted "something not on the menu," Mr. Martinez recalled in the 2006 cookbook MexTex: Traditional Tex-Mex Taste.

So Mr. Martinez hurriedly mixed together some taco meat, guacamole and sour cream, pouring chile con queso over it and threw it in the oven.

Mr. Armstrong spread the word on how good the dish was, and the Bob Armstrong Dip became Mr. Martinez's most famous appetizer.

The movie Swimming Pool had some cool interiors. Couldn't find a pic, but there was one really simple bedroom that was painted baby blue with a bed with a red coverlet. It looks amazing.
