This apartment is so gorgeous and alive. I love the art, the furniture, everything! I don't understand how anybody could make a comment about feeling sorry for the teenagers who live here. What a bizarre comment. Also, I don't think we can assume that there is a summer home, or "weekend retreat". Even if there is, who cares? How does that take away from this apartment? I find it very inspiring to this suburbanite who does have a neighborhood to "cycle around". How do we know these kids aren't cycling around, anyway? From the post it sounds like they are into sports and getting plenty of exercise and fun.

Also, could you share the paint color for the living room, too. Thanks so much.

Absolutely gorgeous. I love every bit of it. I think this is my favorite house tour yet. Please share the paint color used in the kitchen if it is available. I would love to see the bedroom. Again, absolutely fabulous! It oozes style!

This is such a happy house. Please tell us the paint color of the turquoise wall color. I would also like to see more pics of the kitchen and bedrooms.

I have a similar color on my bedroom walls (Benjamin Moore Sherwood Green) and I have a white quilt. I have prints with purple above my bed and I find purple tones compliment the color well. Also, I have two large teal square pillows from West Elm and they look great on the bed with the green color. I think this Suzani bedding from Williams Sonoma Home is beautiful and would look great with your green and the textile above your bed. Unfortunately, the prices are steep:

I love the couch. The photos are a bit blurry, I'm not sure if the color is camel or mustard. Either way, I like it. It definitely looks like a neutral to me. I would take a hint from the wall color behind the sofa. Keep it simple, two solid cotton 18" squares for the spring and summer, two solid velvet 18' squares for the winter. Don't make yourself crazy over this. I would also check out FLOR tiles for your rug. Pick something that would compliment the sofa. I have the "House Pet" FLOR tiles and they are the bomb. I kid you not they do not show dirt, lint, or my Golden Retriever's pet hair. They have some texture and it's a cool look. Let us know what the exact color of the couch. How would you describe it. Good luck.

Beautiful house. I love the front yard and that sectional sofa is lovely. I have a similar dining set -- my chair are almost identical. Love the entire house!

I love it. It's homey and pretty. It looks very organized and clean -- and comfortable. I love the paint colors and the kitchen. The bedding is so pretty. I appreciate the light colored furniture and doors. I am so tired of dark (espresso) furniture. I own some of it myself and wish I could chuck it. Great house!

CB2 and Room and Board are not much better than Ikea. If you want something that will hold up for years, go for Huntington House, or Smith Brothers of Berne, or Flexsteel. All of them make the look you are after.

I like it but I would have painted the front door black.

I don't know if the homeowner is reading this but I would lose the chairs. Unless you actually sit in them, they look kind of cluttery. Not many people sit on their front porch. Leave the chairs for the back porch and backyard and keep the front uncluttered. I would also lose all of the clutter in the corner, and the wall hanging. Flank the door with two planters if you need something on the porch.

I have been on such a roll. This cure has been the best so far. I have been very productive and plan to keep up the enthusiasm until the end of the cure.

So far I have:

1. Cleaned and organized my boys shared bedroom. I organized all of their school and artwork, threw away a bunch of stuff, organized and stored hand-me-downs, and put a lot of stuff out for my yard sale I am having tomorrow. I have also cleaned out our home office. The room is now virtually empty apart from one chair and a media stand. The closets are empty. The floors are bare. My husband and I are thinking of making this a second bedroom so the boys can each have a room to call their own.

2. Collected many items from around the house to sell at our yard sale tomorrow. It is such a good feeling to cull and purge all of the unwanted stuff. I even got the guts to take out all items of clothing I haven't worn in the last year. My closet is looking very spare but that's OK, it's a great feeling. My new mantra is minimalism.

3. Cooked two new recipes this week. Last night was a new baked ziti recipe. Tonight is a slow-cooker barbeque chicken. Not exactly gourmet but I'm getting a home-cooked meal on the table.

4. Organized a junk cabinet in the kitchen.

5. Brought in three new houseplants

6. Ordered fabric for slipcovers

7. Threw out myriad old clothes, broken toys, cosmetics.

I have been preparing for two weeks for the sale tomorrow: http://www.flickr.com/photos/84386689@N00/

I don't think you could go wrong with white -- a soft white such as Benjamin Moore White Dove. I think your furniture would look great with midnight blue. Midnight blue wallpaper with a silvery design on one wall with matching paint in the silvery tones on the reamaining walls would look fantastic. Or matte midnight or navy paint.

Trendy wallpaper could be pretty for a while but you could tire of it. There is nothing wrong with going with white (or another soft neutral) and accenting walls with artwork.

Try placing different colored fabric swatches and objects against the couch and see what cathces your eye.

Also, look for "glamorous" rooms on furniture websites, such as Ethan Allen, and look at Google images to see what colors they use in a "glamorous" setting. Your stuff is definitely glamorous. Good luck.

I find it hard to get rid of fabric and craft supplies -- paint, glitter, brushes, notions, and scrapbook supplies that I haven't used in years but might some day.

Also, books. But I'm getting better. I'm not afraid to get rid of a paperback that I have already read.

I also find we have a lot of cheapy clothes. Lots of cheapy t-shirts and such that take over the house. And too many old towels. I'm also reluctant to get rid of expensive cosmetics and lotions -- even if I don't use them.

Yesterday I did a big clear out of the kids' room. We're having a garage sale this Saturday. We set up all of our folding tables in the garage and have putting things out there for a couple of weeks. It's amazing how much stuff can accumulate in a small house.

Changing a toilet seat? It's not a sponge. It's a piece of hard porcelain or plastic that can be properly disinfected.
