Hey Laure and everybody at AT:LA,

Thanks so much for the link!

I didn't actually take the photos, though -- they're just from the Figueroa's web site.

All the best,

Leah

Granted, that Roost light is most definitely *not* hot, and those bowls are more rustic than refined -- but Roost makes lots of unquestionably beautiful items as well:

Still, I really like your take on things, Manuella!

How funny -- I just blogged the same thing this morning (great minds think alike!).

I found some great interior shots of the Castle as well. You can see 'em here:

Oh, I love this house! My sister- and brother-in-law drove us by it on a tour of "L.A. architectural weirdness" during a recent visit. It's also featured in the Arrol Gellner book "Storybook Style."

Great post, and wonderfully written!

Magical ...

I thought this place looked familiar, and I was right -- it's featured in architect Arrol Gellner's fascinating and beautiful book, "Storybook Style: America's Whimsical Homes of the Twenties":

http://www.amazon.com/Storybook-Style-Arrol-Gellner/dp/0670893854/ref=si3_rdr_bb_product/103-2931436-8939045

It's on the back cover and pp. 38-39 if you use Amazon's "search inside" tool.

You can find these same stools (or at least very similar ones) for about a third the price from eBay seller DestinAsian:

I recently bought one in lime green. It arrived within days and is just lovely.

How nice to have seating oriented toward the windows!

And I *love* the Moroccan arch leading into the room!

I agree, Klassik by Lynne is a great addition to the East Bay home-shopping scene. The prices are definitely fair, and perhaps a bit better than those at Emeryville's Retro@Home, which has a similar midcentury/Danish modern aesthetic.

I blogged Klassik by Lynne not too long ago, so here's another take for anyone who's curious:

Wandrlust has some truly drool-worthy wallpapers, including the Florence Broadhurst papers. Not cheap by any stretch, but lovely.

Good Questions: Sources for great wallpaper?

Don't get me wrong -- I absolutely LOVE AT:SF. But sometimes I wish you'd remember that not all of your readers live in the Outer Richmond or other fog-belt areas of San Francisco.

Over here in Oakland, for instance, it's sunny and balmy almost all summer -- just as it is in the rest of the East Bay, most of Marin and the Peninsula, the South Bay, and even certified San Francisco neighborhoods like Potrero Hill and the Mission.

For us, summer living is a simple matter of opening the door and going outside.

Enjoying the sun in Oakland,

Leah

WOW -- what a great place!

I love the architecture of the space itself, and how you've showcased your creativity there.
