After months of research, I just bought the version of this mattress they sell at Crate and Barrel and am loving it--have never slept so well. I think the furniture is great, and have no problem with the colours (although I'm not one of them, I understand that some people prefer a quiet, neutral palette). The problem is placement--I would lose the bookcase, put the TV on something skinnier so it doesn't stick out from the wall too much (and that is a lighter colour, so it's not so contrasty with the other pieces in the room), or even hang it on the wall, and then move the (beautiful chair back toward the corner the bookcase is now in. That will open up the room, leave space around the coffee table, and take some of the focus off the TV (avoid that whole everything in the room is centered around the TV dynamic). Goodness, people are being so mean about the photos. Hey, at least someone is trying to give their place some personality with limited means. It may not be my style, but I do appreciate that the photos have meaning for the person living there. And I actually think that if you're going to use photos as your primary decorative element, piling them on is probably the best way to go--it's what makes it unique. My only TV is in the bedroom--mainly so I don't have to have it in the living room. And, as a single mom, it can be a nice retreat to go off to my room and watch a grown up movie--I do share the TV with my son sometimes, but with this arrangement I have full control over TV viewing in my house (and, as a result, we don't watch much of it). I have the BluBot Modulicious bed, with drawers, and the quality is far superior to anything from IKEA (and I say that as someone who loves my IKEA Expedit shelves). If you're really going to use the piece, and be pulling the drawers in and out regularly, then I think you'd be much better off spending the extra money. The Chelsmore Apartments (www.chelsmore.com) on 15th St and 7th Ave has studios and 1-bedrooms for short term rentals ($120-$150 a night).
