I LOVE sour cherries. Luckily, my grandfather has a couple of trees and I get mine for free. I just did a post on my blog recently about sour cherry jam. It's so good!

There is so much misinformation on this out there. There is NO difference between white and brown eggs, it's all about the chickens that lay them, how they are feed, how they live, etc, that leads to the taste difference.

I work at the farmers market and have seen people walk right past perfectly tasty, healthy, farm fresh eggs because they were white. That's also part of the reason my family only raises brown egg laying hens - because people think they are healthier, and they are much easier to sell. People associate the brown color with health/organics/etc. It's so frustrating!

Wow, people are so rude! I loved this video, "professional" looking or not. I found both of the dough shaping videos very helpful. Thanks!

Mouthfeel. I hate it.

I don't even know what "stoup" is! Is it a food network thing? Because I don't even have tv.

I don't keep paper towels in my kitchen just because I know I would go directly to them for everything if I did! I do wish I had them every time I make bacon though, but I just use a small hand towel, it works fine. And I use toilet paper to clean up the occasional dog mess.

So you can go paper towel free without sacrificing, but I don't blame people who keep them around!

I'm probably going to get yelled at for this, but I use salted and unsalted interchangably when I bake. I, nor anyone I bake for, can tell the difference.

Wow, this became quite the debate. I used the word "snob" as a joke, that's just how some of you were talking. I understand this is a place to have a discussion about eating well, etc. But even air and water can kill you, a piece of american cheese here and there isn't going to hurt.

Like I said, there's a time and a place for it. I definitely don't eat it every day, not even once a month. But it makes dang good grilled cheeses.

My family is starting a small chicken operation. Our chickens won't be pasture-raised, only because it's not viable, too many other animal predators. They have to have a roof over their heads and chicken fencing buried deep in the ground. But they will be in a HUGE chicken house with lots of room to move around, be feed greens, yogurt, etc along with chicken feed. The eggs taste so much better, and are better for you, but people in my area (rural georgia) just aren't going to pay 7.50 a dozen. 3 dollars TOPS. Even then it's pushing it a bit.

People still just don't understand the mechanics of the food industry. They want things cheap and fast. We aren't going to make a ton of money selling like this, but we feel better about eating them and having other people eat them. Plus, we love the chickens.

Thanks for this great post.

Man you all are a bunch of snobs, haha! I love american cheese on grilled cheeses and burgers. I don't eat it all the time, but there is a time and place for it.

There's no need to be so rude over cheese!
