I think this is great. What I take away from is it to try to act like a housesitter in your own home. In other words, look at things anew and without the emotional attachment you have to them. And if you are keeping things for purely emotional/sentimental reasons, acknowledge it and find a place for them where they will be safe but not impeding the way you live with thing on a day to day basis. You want to be able to get at your daily-use plates without wedding china getting in the way, etc. Getting Organized: The Big Picture |

Agree with the others - how big a kitchen do you need? The 'before' had space for an island, two ovens, a big fridge, and tons of counters/cabinets. Before & After: An Expanding Kitchen Renovation |

I think it's best to stick with consumable items (ie, food and drink). I would also put the mix CD in this category because you wouldn't have to keep the CD. And toilet paper too I guess. The last thing I would want to do is contribute to someone's clutter just when they're starting out in a new place. 5 Unique Items to Give as Housewarming Gifts |

I love this! There's a big difference between very minimalist, modern all-white decor that often looks a bit sterile with something like this, with wood floors, art, and some strategically placed colorful furniture, books, clothes, etc. Apartment Therapy San Francisco | Beautiful Interiors: Louise and Tom's Cheerful Apartment |

Frum took the words out of my mouth. Roach baits / roach motels work, and work well. Believe me, I lived with a roach infestation for many many years. What ultimately worked after several failed attempts was putting out LOTS of roach motels. For my small apartment (where roaches were only in the kitchen and bathroom, thankfully) I bought at least 5 or 6 boxes, meaning we put out dozens of them all over (to add to suggestions above, I'd recommend putting them in/above cabinets, behind kitchen counters if you can, and around pipes/radiators). Yes, it's going to be aesthetically displeasing, but it will be worth it. And then once they're gone, as frum said, keep several around for maintenance. In this case, the architecture IS the decor, so it definitely belongs here, especially since the inhabitants are the architects. For those who question its "small"-ness, AT classified the small category as 900-1200 square feet, so why shouldn't 914 sq. feet for a family of three count? Beautiful photos. I especially love the second - gorgeous floors. And I think a radio by the tub is fine as long as it's not in danger of falling IN the tub... Apartment Therapy DC | Bathroom Inspiration from Twig Hutchinson |

I love this! You did such a wonderful job and I totally disagree with those who said it looks cold/uninviting. I love the color scheme and if/when you do add small bits of color - dishes, flowers, towels - it will only add to it without looking cluttered. Cute, but I don't think my cat would go for it unless we put a bunch of random stuff on it... she prefers to sleep on piles - clothes, papers, magazines - no matter how uncomfortable it looks. Though she's also trying to appropriate my computer as a cat bed. Apartment Therapy Chicago | Like Kittysville: Modern Pet Beds Under $100 |
