@battra92 - the link doesn't work, but excellent idea. i've got a hairy manfriend, who's nearing grizzly by day 3 unshaved, so the throwaways are not desirable. he has not fruit to his loins yet, so december bday/xmas present it is. thanks!

Really nice change, went from a tacky midwest mother style to something more current and fresh. The group of pictures are too high for my tastes, the poor placement shortens the visual height of the ceiling! I didn't notice it at first, but others are right about the coffee table. The couch is a bit too raggamuffin for the beautiful wood detail of the coffee table and antique feel of the chair.

Why are you chopping onions while burning garlic?? I've been told to always start with onions, as you have up to a five minute gap before they're properly browned, then the quick to burn garlic jumps in.

I don't think there's much a demand to look like you live in a construction site.

To burst your sustainable bubble, it's ironic the chose of aluminum out of all the other materials to reuse. It's the only resource that consumers can actually make money from recycling because it costs less to reuse it than to create fresh aluminum from scratch. Glass, paper, plastic, the community loses money by recycling these and continues to pollute the air in the reprocessing.

Furthermore, road signs, really? Did you obtain your objects illegally? A single stop sign cost over a hundred dollars to produce, you don't often see these expensive, government owned gems laying around in gutters everywhere

Seems like the fair caters to handmade-life crafters that are all stuck somewhere in between the retro and shabby chic trends. Some of the individual pieces look nice, but the concept is tired, sorry.

I think I'd have to see that lavender in the context of the room to "get it", but the wood condition and treatments look supreme. Nicely done.

Considering Refinishing an Antique or Vintage Find

@biologyteacher to be a writer on AT you have to be the design field in some way or another; to make a generalized statement, more often than not, designers own macs. So really you're kind of just harping on the fault of every author's tendency to write about their personal experience and interests.

Yet at the same time, I do agree that iPhone/Pad being nearly the only topic on the recent first page of Unplugged articles is really boring. Big hearts for Steve Jobs and all, but this one company can't be the only tech business making interesting retail products right now.
