As for Morel hunting in Northern Idaho, I have been told as well to hunt after a rain and then a bit of sun and to look in marshy areas and under trees and underbrush. I have also been told to only take the tops, leaving the stems behind, and jot down where to retrieved them. If the weather is right, in a week or so you can return for new morels that will grow in their place.
