Best dressing ever, if I do say so myself, goes great w mediterranean salads (think feta and green peppers):

Toast 2 Tbsp gorund cumin in a pan until fragrant. Add 1/8 cup oil for next step.

Chop 3-4 garlic cloves, cook in 1/8 cup oil, making sure to remove from heat before they sizzle. You are cooking out bitterness, not cooking the garlic.

Mix cumin garlic oil together with juice of 1-2 lemons (to taste) and 2-3 Tbsp wine vinegar. Add up to 1/8 cup more oil, salt and pepper. Whisk together and toss with salad.

you can get a cheap induction burner/hob for around 125 bucks. AJMadsion and ebay have them. Cooks Illustrated rated these portables this month, and the winner was one of the cheapest. (Fagor lost but was also cheap). I bought one for my cabin, which has an electric range, bc I got sick of waiting 10 minutes to boil water. Now it takes 30 seconds.

Let's keep in mind, Jeff got on BTLD when he saw pretty much the same thing for $9000 and wanted to point out that there is a cheaper option. I make terrariums all the time and a basic terrarium is just under $100. Most of the cost is the container, and as he said, those stunning custom square boxes are $300. I say hat's off to Jeff as the design work alone is stunning.

c&o, just buy them online. I buy mosaic all the time, pay between 4 and 6 a foot. google glass mosaic tile and shop; it around, or find some you like on ebay and make an offer. THere has been cut rate (under 4/ft) bisazza tile on ebay for the past 6 months.

I thought #38 was cool, love the colors, but a little dark. Thick slabs seem to have caught on, and there are a few in there that I was like, Huh? And they really almost all do have a certain similarity. It's also interesting to see what a good job IKEA is doing in keeping up with what's hot...not hard to duplicate these looks using IKEA.

Renter backsplash -- buy a tempered glass IKEA tall cabinet doot and turn it sideways, resting on counter (use a little caulk to hold it to wall). FYI, IKEA Woodbridge has 78" x 18" on clearance in the bathroom section for $10.

SHort ribs are expensive here (DC). Best recipe is Chipotle braised short ribs which you can find on epicurious.com (recipe from cafe annie in houston).
