My husband and I fell in love with the bidet concept during our honeymoon. If there was any way we could fit one into our bathroom, we'd do it in a heartbeat. Once Standard Bathroom Fixtures We've Left Behind |

I use it in fruit salads, ice tea, and as a tisane. I know I've thrown it into a number of other dishes that have called for mint or sage, this works as a decent sub for either. Was thinking it might be interesting in fruity, herbalicious popsicles, a la rosemary lemonade ices - but I haven't tested that theory yet. What Can I Do With Pineapple Sage? Good Questions |

Yay! I fell in love with menemen while traveling in Turkey years ago, and it's been a fave weekend breakfast ever since. I think that the feta is more likely French feta, known as beyaz peynir in Turkey - not as salty as Greek feta. I've made some California twists to my version: I don't cook down the tomatoes, but just sweat them; I add avocado, and I often use a little shredded pepper jack for the cheese. Does anyone have alternatives for this type of shower in a small (5' x 6') 3/4 bathroom? We're currently stuck with a corner glass stall in a bathroom where there's no possibility of knocking down a wall. I've debated just waterproofing the entire room, especially since this will presumably be a kid's bathroom in a few years, but does anyone have any other ideas? Sorry, I should have prefaced that - if you can't get your hands on this OR can't justify the expense...didn't mean to sound so negative. I know that my budget can deal much better with a $3 bottle of nuoc mam from the Asian market, is all. Product Review: Laura Santtini's Taste No. 5 Umami Paste |

A few drops of SE Asian fish sauce will do much the same job WAAAAAY cheaper. It's phenomenal in tomato sauces. Product Review: Laura Santtini's Taste No. 5 Umami Paste |

I just converted my husband to loose leaf a couple of weeks ago, and it was like a revelation to him. He can't believe how much better the tea is! I have a samovar style kettle I bought in Turkey, so we have tea on virtually all weekend as we putter about with various projects. It's wonderful, esp. in winter. If it's the first thing you see on entry, then I'd get a small table from a thrift store or IKEA to hold a catch all for keys/wallet/phone, and put up coat hooks to hold hats, scarves, jackets and bags. If you want it less cluttered, or you don't need functional, you just want some visual appeal, then a collection of baskets (again, you can thrift 'em), travel souvenirs, postcards, photographs, or maps would do nicely. Add a plant or an umbrella stand if you need something on the floor to balance it out. How To Fill This Empty Corner? Good Questions |

@ headshake - I hardly think they're pimping - you have to be someone who already shops there semi-regularly to recognize the store from a pretty generic looking price tag, it's nowhere named in the article. Secondly - that was apparently a pretty isolated incident (find me ANY sizeable organization that doesn't harbor some whackjobs in their ranks). For the most part, they are a fairly decent corporate citizen, especially as compared to most of their peers. 5 Things On Sale Right Now To Help You Entertain Later |

I also got the hot lemon whiskey treatment as a child, with the addition of white pepper (it's only been in my 30s that I've finally grown to *like* bourbon). It stops sore throats immediately and is my go-to whenever I feel under the weather. I've brewed it up/passed the recipe on to many friends who think I'm a witch doctor/miracle worker! :) Under the Weather? Try These Soothing Sippers Recipe Roundup |

Hey, don't knock the bacon chocolate! I took a bar of alder-salt bacon flavored chocolate to a party as an impulse buy when I picked up drinks. Half the party tried it, and our verdict? FABULOUS. Everything's better with chocolate, and everything's better with bacon. So naturally, they're awesome together. Has Chocolate Gone Too Far? |

Setting up a well-stocked bar was a natural focus when my husband and I combined households. My parents entertained frequently, and he grew up in the wine industry. We now have a decently stocked bar, visible behind glass in our dining room, but it's nothing really over the top when compared to many other people we know. So we've both been *quite* surprised (and a bit chagrined) by the reactions we've gotten from neighbors or visitors who don't know us well, always something akin to, "Geez, do a little drinking?!" I'd lose the seahorses and the artwork, they seem very out of place. The rest of it, thumbs up in a big way. That wall treatment in the room with the fireplace is lovely, and keeping the fireplace white, instead of matching it to the dark doors, was very smart. I have to disagree with the folks who say that non-candy items are verboten. I've given out the mini tubs of Play Doh for the last several years, and have always gotten *thrilled* reactions from the kids, including teens who you'd think wouldn't be into it. Miniaturized anything is usually interesting enough to be deemed "cool". Forget Candy & Make Homemade Crayons |

A friend of mine bought, at great expense, one of those washer/dryer combos after falling in love with the concept in Ireland. I think it was a Haier, but am not sure - but the thing was completely dead within 18 months, and he couldn't find a repairman that would touch it. We live in the Sonoma wine region, full of high-end appliances, so I'd have thought he'd be able to find someone. Space Saving Appliances in Paris |
