If you are using the sofa or daybed, place this across the windows and place the red chair on the right side. I would suggest installing bamboo shades from the ceiling behind the sofa to allow privacy and to allow light in to the other part of the living room. You can put a sofa table behind the sofa daybed so that when the shades are down, you have an accent furniture and not a plain wall of matchstick shades.

As for colors, I suggest painting the well to the left of the kitchen red for accent, then the wall on the kitchen side, same as the tan paint on the first picture. Leave the wall under the cabinet white while the wall on the left of kitchen (not part of the bigger wall, immediately next to the range) in the same tan shade as the right side of the kitchen. Then put a long, narrow and perhaps tall table parallel to the kitchen (similar to a bar), add 2 bar stools and hang one or two pendant lights. Define your kitchen/eating area with a rug under the table. If you can get a fun rug that will add accent to your room (like zebra print or whimsical geometric prints)

I bought a pair for $30 from craigslist. Both chairs are in excellent condition.

Yeah, I am not a big fan of mirrors. I don't even have one in my bedroom.

As for your issue, I would put a window film. In this way it gives you an illusion of having floor to ceiling windows instead of those mirrors.

I know that AT had featured nice fancy window films in the past but I don't remember the brand names but you may check this one out (from Home Depot)

Oh and I'd like to add to my previous comment, if you can paint the post, the "beam" and the narrow wall that frames the office in chocolate brown that will give you a better definition of the office space. You might as well add brown pillows.

I would suggest yellow with a shade similar to your pillows. If you can put these pillows along with other green pillows these will tie in with the wall and the rug. Since there are no windows on the walls of your office, the yellow shade would brighten-up the space a bit.

I am not sure if you will be able to get bamboo blinds to cover your window from ceiling to floor or if you can have one custom made.

I would strip the moulding and expose the wood. If you live in an older building, the exposed wood would bring some old world charm into your modern space.

Good Questions: Would You Paint the Molding a Dark Color?

I would love to have the dining set and the credenza as there are so many possibilities. Here are my 2 cents:

1. The idea of red lacquer sounds good but it's more common to see chinoiserie in red but if you are inclined to paint the furniture red, I would suggest re-upholstering the cushions in a fun retro turquoise fabric. Ooh lala

2. An alternative is to paint the furniture in tiffany blue lacquer (similar to what Dorothy Draper used in one of her dressers) and again, re-upholster the cushions (this time) in a fun retro red fabric

As for the table, paint the legs and the edging but strip the table top and expose the wood (either dark or light stain will work)

I hope you keep the table but in case you decide to sell it and you're in the Washington, DC area, I would love to have it!
