I love the fairy tale quality of the house and decor, yet it is modern and streamlined at the same time, with a masculine feeling to it. The size of the house is just right, it does not seem boat like at all. My favorite element is the zigzagy borders.
I am not sure if I like the orange chairs in the garden. In the picture, the color looks jarring.
They also are not comfortable, I tried that kind of chair once. A minor quibble, the house is truly a gem.

I felt already puzzled when I read the comment by JUSTANOTHERCULTURALREF....
This is a design website, not a medical opinion survey. Then I felt even more puzzled when I read the comment right above mine: what book abuse? The arrangement of the books is so decorative and creative. I want to copy it along with all the other creative elements of this office space.

The comments are part of the fun of a good house tour.

"Gobsmacked" , the comment by Elisabeth II, seems to fit. I never heard that word, but I also say: gobsmacked!

PS. What a pity to have to look at a big, grey, ugly box building. Is that Bauhaus? No matter, all the same boxy stuff.

I had to laugh when I read the above survey caption "What friends say". When I entered the House Tour my first thought was: how gorgeous! The sum of the decor is also a work of art, besides the art that is displayed. My second thought was, is that studio cold in the winter?
I am with KATKREIG, it would be a privilege to visit.

This House Tour was fun, fun, fun! Thank you for inviting us.
Just when I started getting a little bored with looking at Apartment Therapy interiors, this contribution pulls me back into the folds of loyal viewership.

Those Miu Miu Sandals were worth buying.

PS: I agree with the comment by Kathrindehn concerning the stove. I think I would turn to eating raw foods, rather then having such a big white stove stove.

"home body", who is among the first comments, said it better than I could have. The place definitely looks inhabited by people who have a passion.

I'm always trying to make my place look like I'm doing something besides eating and watching television, but I only succeed at making pretty.

Chris, I totally agree with the IKEA rule.

I love all the handcrafted towel holders and shelves, especially the sunglass holder.

Is the green chest re-painted or painted by the manufacturer?

Where are the television cords?

Super gorgeous, super expensive, super professionally decorated.

Once I read all the criticisms concerning the nautically themed decoration, I looked one more time, and noticed quite a few nautically themed decorative items. But for a house that size, the amount seems appropriate, and they can all be easily removed, once there is a live-in owner.

I liked especially the clever touches with the chair upholstery, and all that bleached wood and the light color palette.

Having said all that, this house is so far removed from my financial reality, that it really doesn't interest me all that much. I only felt tempted to respond, after I read the comments.

I've been waiting for this house tour since I saw the few pictures on house call. It is as good as I was hoping.

I believe that small, boxy spaces are much better off with a lot of interesting stuff to look at. The eye has a chance to wander and be stimulated, instead of feeling enclosed by blank walls.

I can imagine feeling embraced by this home's warmth and coziness, coming in from a cold, dark street in the middle of winter. But I wonder how it feels in the middle of a New York summer?

Good comment obleak1. There is a difference.

My immediate impression after clicking on this house tour was: wow, very sophisticated and expensive. I didn't even realize the owner is 26 years old. Now I'm even more impressed with the level of sophistication. And, money definitely aids sophistication.

I enjoy reading honest comments. Too much self imposed censoring, for the sake of politeness, makes for boring reading.

I read every comment, and so far, I like the suggestion of using an electric toothbrush the best. But it seems like a lot of work. My bathroom has no ventilation, so I try to minimize using chemicals on a regular basis.

Most of the above suggestion apply to white tiles with white grout. What about beige tiles, with beige grout?

I once cleaned a friends shower stall who had navy tile with navy grout. I had bought some kind of soap scum/mildew remover that I sprayed all over, and then realized with horror that the grout became mottled with white streaks all over.

I'm trying to figure out something nontoxic, easy, for regular clean-ups.

By the way, the sealant for the grout lasts only three months.

I was invited to a party in a house like that. I liked the party and I liked the house. My next visit was at night with just the two owners present, and I was shocked how different the house felt: gloomy, comfortless, lonely. Too much black night coming through all that glass.

I like the transformation of the house, I like the colors or rather the lack of color, I like the style, I think it's a skillful renovation and yet.....

I think I agree with redsharkinterior that its a little too magazine perfect.

I really enjoyed this house tour. When I first glanced at the pictures, I felt the color of the kitchen cabinets were too light and fresh against the antique table with the tartan tablecloth. But then I realized that the white appliances would be even more visible with darker cabinets, so the grey is a good in between choice.

I don't understand the word vignette-ish and I don't understand the criticism that it looks staged. All interiors that look more stylish and creative than the mere inhabiting of a dwelling, exhibit artifice; all the more so if company is expected or a photo shoot planned.

Viewing the pictures of Beth and Bill's home, my overriding feeling was respect!!!

Beth and Bill should make a picture book of their home and garden and of their lives. I would buy that book in a heart beat, without even looking at the price, because I know I would get endless hours of enjoyment leafing through the pages over and over.

The house and surroundings look like a place place where children grow up to have nice childhood memories.

I like the amber crystal chandelier, rectangular mirror and oversized shell in the living room. I remember seeing them in the Nieman Marcus/Horchow catalog.
