What about Sunjel or another brand of gel? http://thesunjelcompany.com/SunJel_Fireplaces.html I bought a fake fireplace that I could burn gel in and your real fireplace is more than sufficient. It's neat stuff and even crackles like a real fire.

I use a Google spreadsheet. Each column is a different category (clothes, papers, etc.). When packing I bold everything, if I'm not taking it or have already packed it I unbold that item.

We call this Grandma Dot's Blueberry Pie but it was originally for strawberries. It also works very well with peaches or peaches mixed with raspberries or blueberries. Sort of the same idea as the recipe above but without using gelatin. The hardest part of the recipe is waiting until it chills and sets!

Grandma Dot's Blueberry Pie

Ingredients
4 cups blueberries ( OR
strawberries, raspberries,
peaches)
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 cup cornstarch diluted in 3/4
cup hot water
1 Tbs. lemon juice

Method

Combine sugar, salt, and 1/2 cup crushed blueberries,
diluted corn starch, and hot water. Cook over low flame
until mixture is thick and clear. Remove from heat, and
add lemon juice and mix well. Cool mixture. Pour over
remaining berries*. Put glazed berries into a baked pie
shell. Let stand until cold. Chill and serve with whipped
cream.

*A recent innovation has been to mix the berries in the glaze in the glaze bowl and then pour it all into the pie shell. The berries and glaze get mixed up better that way.

I found that Sweat scoop and my cat's pee were not a good combination. It turned into Sweat cement and was horrible to cleanup.

I have the Edition 1 from Soda Club. (http://www.sdoaclub.com) Similar idea but the carbonator sits on the counter and you put liter bottles on to be carbonated. What I prefer about it is that the CO2 canisters are big (about 110 liters of bubble), so you don't have to get them refilled very often.

I think that the odds are good that in a one-a-day approach there will be things a renter can apply. I find with a lot of eco-reccomendations, it's assumed you own where you live and get make all sorts of changes. But smaller things I am more likely to able to implement and I can always use more ideas!

I read with great envy many of the ideas and suggestions on Apartment Therapy. I'm envious because I live in an apartment complex that doesn't allow painting. I live in a beige and cream box. I've done my best with art, area rugs on top of the beige carpet, furniture etc. But the blik graphics would really help with my efforts to differentiate my beige box.

Specifically, my dining area has an asian feel to it and that is where I would use both of the bamboo sets. The Fly I would use in my bedroom in the bay window area so I can look the birds as I lie in bed.

I bought mine at Home Depot and it stays on via static electricity (just like certain stickers you get for your car). Comes right off and adds a nice bit of color to my bedroom since I can't paint.

I've got a spiffy little gadget from Soda Club that carbonates water. Each CO2 canister is good for about 110 liters and then you send it back and get a new canister. I haven't bought any soda/sparkling water in 3 months.
