Love - Of course I am not of the school of "Leave the wood". If you don't like it, change it so you can keep it. If it's so important to keep the wood and you don't like it, give it away.

I guess we were on the same wave length this weekend. My 10 minutes turned into a well-spent hour. The living room was bothering me. Standing at the top of the steps down into the room I realized that everything was revolving around the TV we never watch. I broke the space up into two separate seating areas and it's like I doubled the space. Now all I need is a great area rug and some new curtains and I will feel like I added a whole new room to the house! Has anyone tried those Safavieh rugs off of Walmart.com? They are pretty and I'm on a serious budget, but I am skeptical.

I believe that the planter is the bullet planter. There are a couple on Etsy right now and a few on EBay.

In answer to minimizing the electronics clutter; try stacking them neatly (like you would books) and use zip ties to shorten the cord mess in the back (usually it's the cords that look so darn messy). I did this with the DVR and two Nintendo game consoles (that I refuse to give up) and it looks more intentionally organized.

I love them all but cats are oh so finicky and unless I rub one all over myself to put my scent on it, they would only use it for a short period of time. I would love to see one of these that sits higher; maybe if the bed also offered a view of the squirrel & bird action outside, they would be more likely to use it longer! On another note; love all of these snuggly kitties!!

Are all of these photos taken from different angles? Photo 1 has no windows, Photo 2 shows 2 windows (on adjacent walls). The photo that shows the room during the renovation has an abundance of windows, what happened to them??

Thank you for this post. It is very timely for me. I have been comparing my home to others, forgetting that after a long search, there was a reason I chose this one. I am starting off my year cleaning and organizing and getting this place to what I visualized when I found it. Thanks!!

I had a cat when I was young who would do this only because he was so nosy he just had to be in the know and wanted to be wherever we were. He was really good in the car too; we would take him upstate to our vacation house and he didn't even need a carrier. It totally depends on the cat's personality. Unlike dogs, they dont respond well to commands and only do what they WANT to do.

Is it too much that I did a similar color with a turquoise-like color two years ago? Too much for some, but in my house with little direct sunlight it brightened things up and I love it!!

I totally agree with changing out the lighting, mirror and accessories, I was shocked at how these few changes made my beige tiled bathroom look almost brand new! It is true that the quality of light does effect how you see a color as well. This is absolutely true.

I really don't agree with leave the old cabinets if you are going to flip a place those cabinets do not appeal to a wide market of people and unfortunately white does. I do agree with the comments on the placement of the appliances, it does not seem set up efficiently.
