Sansieveria are often touted as a low-light plant, but only because they will remain alive in low light. They won't grow much (or at all) without sunlight. This is a drag if you like to watch your plants grow, but great if you have a specimen that is the perfect size and shape for its place in your home.

Put these plants in bright light, water frequently in the summer, not as much in the winter and they will grow so much they will crack the ceramic/terracotta pots that are too small for them.

Yup, I match. I noticed this the other day. I had a ton of handwashing hanging to dry. I was surrounded by black, grey, ivory and white in both my home and clothing. It took me aback because all the other colours that I wear and that exist in my home weren't present in the random selection. I have reds, oranges and greens in my home and wardrobe and so the starkness of the selection made me question my choices in clothing. I walk to the closet confirmed I was more than just those neutrals. Similarly both the wardrobe and decor also share a wide variety of textures, natural fabrics and clean, tailored lines.

I've always hated slipcovers for dining chairs because they look like one is covering up ugliness with cleaner, newer ugliness. I can see some situations that could require them such as one can't afford better chairs, or can't afford to have their chairs professionally redone (i.e. DIY is not their strength), but generally I say no to slipcovers.

However, seeing the chair peek through has made me lighten up a bit. To make this work I think the chair needs to have a good silhouette. Then the quality of the fabric and the level of translucency are important. It must be a natural fabric of high quality and it must be bordering on sheer.

But for what that is going to cost one, why not recover, refinish, or purchase?

Erm, balance the genders? All women like colour? All men are practical and no nonsense? I can think of a number of friend's bedrooms, nay apartments and fashion senses that would suggest otherwise.

I believe that spaces should be decorated for those who live in them. As a creative, high energy woman I need a calm, lesser-stimulating environment for my downtime. Thus, the palette of my entire apartment is similar to The Olde Bell Inn. It's a subtle, warm place due to natural materials, varied textures, and plant life. There is also a lot of natural light that comes with a view. I prefer my colour to come from the friends and activities that fill my space.

In my world, blankets are for texture and warmth on beds and couches, not statements.

I once worked in an old house that had a nasty smell that came and went. It was a raccoon's den. They have more than one den at a time, hence the smell comes and goes with the animal.
