The "One language, one parent" method has worked well for our family. I'm Irish, my husband is Turkish and we are living in Germany. I only speak english with our boys and my husband turkish. Our 4 year old boy knows automatically which language to speak and with whom. He picked up German once he started kindergarten last year. It is still the weaker language but he's getting there. It is very important to be consistent from the beginning on! Oh yes, and books, books, books - it's where he got all his vocabulary!

Rice are BIG business in Germany and I once had the privilege of browsing through one of their warehouses - thought I had died and gone to heaven! *sigh*

Lovely room, bright and sunny - I'm particularly in love with that wooden box storage for her books!

This room wins it for me hands down - just how I would love my sons room to look - well done!

I like this room but the floor feels cold to me - perhaps a rug would make it feel cozier ...

I love my isak cups but have yet to drink from them!
