Along the lines of the Chutes and ladders game and the idea of setting a timer, we played a game called "Five minutes To Change the World" (or longer if the place needed more tidying). The idea is to get the kids to put their own things back where they belong, and we would do the same.
We set a timer for five minutes, all start in the same room, the timekeeper shouts go, and we all run around picking up our things and putting them back in the appropriate places - toys on the shelves, shoes in the closet, etc. Everyone cheers when the timer sounds, and we all congratulate each other on how tidy we managed to make the room in just minutes.
Worked like a charm when they were 6 and 8. It can get a little maniacal, but overall was quite popular.

Fisher & Paykel is a New Zealand company (not a Danish one), popular in Australia & Europe, and one of the companies that pioneered the dish drawer dishwasher. (No, I don't work for the company, but I'm an American expat living in NZ and I love those dish drawers!).
New Zealand has a similar Consumer's Reports organisation, and their magazine is called <B>Consumer. A quick check on the NZ magazine shows the F&P Elegance and Tasman are their top rated brands, though not side-by-side versions.
I think you could probably check the online version of the NZ Consumer magazine if you want more info.
Hope this is helpful!
