So unique and the fact that each piece has a story and meaning makes it like magic. Those curtains in the yellow room are KILLER. I've literally been thinking about them since yesterday. A lovely home that is clearly loved.

Family Lives in a Showhouse, Like Living Props Design News

I'm lucky to have a family and friends as artists. I love getting originals as castoffs or gifts from them, but I try to always support them whenever I can. I'm unlucky that no one I know is a framer.

I bought a piece for $250 (the most I've spent so far on art) from my uncle at an art show of his: www.leobenvenuti.com

I'm currently saving up to buy a custom piece oil from my friend Alex. http://www.alexbauwens.com/.

I buy affordable larger sized frames from Michaels and have them custom cut linen mat(t?)s for most things and add a wire to the back. There's usually a coupon or something floating around for 40% off your total purchase, so I almost always do that. However, I've gotten professional framers to handle my more prescious works which has been upwards of $400.

An 1890s 10' tall wooden kitchen hutch was on sale at an antique mall for half price, starting at $1300. I ended up getting it for $550 and am still obsessed with it.

When it comes to these: I cannot grow up or shake it off. And it's most definitely impossible for me to move on. I'd love to think of myself as brave or mature, but it's instinct. I definitely envy you, martinus! I will forever revert to a classic super spoiled 9 year old department store freak out every time I see one of these things. I can't even kill them, I just start flailing and running around the room scream-crying, trying to decide what to do without having to get near and scare them into hiding - and then feel totally disgusting in my own home for the next week at least. Thankfully, I haven't come across any since my single days. So, my husband isn't aware of this side of me. Yet. Also, that photo is the worst. Next time, maybe a child drawing representation of it. :)

I like the disclaimer of I designed it but the owner bought it *cough* -couch- *cough* I get that they didn't want a beachy vibe, the other elements are fun but still breezy.

Its its yellow, and you let it mello... Then I'm thoroughly disgusted because I'm company and don't need to see how dehydrated you are.

Seats down, then flush. Then peek make sure it all went down. I CANNOT be alone in this. All the other stuff, whatever.

Do You Have Strong Feelings about Bathroom Decor?

I love the piece itself, but am not head over heels for the design. I like ombre (although I'm feeling like it'll be in the same category of trend as chevron for me soon enough) and the bleeding on some ikat patterns, but it seels like a weird combo of the two, imho. The execution is good (thank you for sanding and taking your time rather than just slapping a coat over it), just not my taste I think.

I had an adult family of chain smokers (they put up bookcases to separate rooms in their living room for 5 people to live in a 1 bedroom) living below me in my last apartment. It was horrible. There was nothing I could do legally but wait for my lease to end.

What we DID do, was caulk everywhere - especially along the trim. We were constantly changing out the air fiter. We also had the landlord agree to pay a portion of our electricity bill for the difference of having to run small purifiers in every room, all the time, every day. The second you turn one of those off - I'll immediately start sneezing.

Other advise would be, out-stink them. Or, drive them away by suddenly get like really REALLY into ABBA. Very loudly. On repeat. Every time you leave the house.

Love swiffer - wet and dry. Mine doesn't leave streaks on my hardwood, but I don't have any vyhnal or tile so I can't speak to that. I real-mop about once a month and vacuum my small area rugs when it looks like they need it. I use them all the time and it's amazing with both my shedding dogs. The microfiber reusable cloths work great with them, too. The duster I don't really use unless it's for vents, I use a rag and whatever for that.
