I rarely have the time, but when I do, I love to prepare the next evening's meal in the crockpot, put it in the fridge overnight, then it's all ready to take out and slow cook all day the next day while I'm at work.

Thank you obdimples. I too was horrified to see any post on my favorite site about that POS woman. But you forgot that she got two POWs beaten to death and one beaten nearly to death for turning them in to their captors when they attempted to discreetly pass her their social security numbers.

I think chandeliers in the bedroom are pretty cool. The vision of what I'd like my bedroom to look like (when it's all said and done) would look great with a chandelier. However, I won't be able to talk the SO out of the ceiling fan. Is any way I can have both? I've never seen anything like it.

SherryBinNH - normally I'm with you. But I try to do something like this for Thanksgiving and Christmas or a special occasion (someone's birthday dinner, etc...). That red would be wonderful for Christmas.

Awesome. I read this because I have the exact same question (except that I will be using my dresser as a media cabinet to hold hubby's way too big tv) and still, there are a bajillion different opinions.

I was actually thinking (tell me if this is awful) of painting it either an awesome color or black then wallpapering the front of the drawers in a cool print.

A few of my friends and I used to get together after work once a week for "craft night". We'd bring our own craft to work on while we caught up with each other and drank wine. It was a good excuse to actually sit down and work on our own unique hobby plus spend time with each other. I was working on a quilt, another friend liked jewelry making, and another was doing all sorts of stuff. We had one friend who was finishing up her degree and didn't have time to start a hobby crafting, so she would just write notecards while we were chatting and crafting away.

I'd leave it as is, personally. But if you decide to paint it, leave the cabinets alone. I think they'd be the best way leave a little of the original wood charm if you're going to do it that way.

You might look at McMaster-Carr or Global Industrial.

If you like the idea of your dishes showing, you could probably save a lot of money by simply installing shelves instead of cabinets. Especially if your dishes are white, you'll still get that strikeing white on green effect. I've liked the idea when I've seen it on AT. It seems like it would make a small kitchen like yours more open than cabinets would.

No way. I agree with SherryBinNH. They're pretty gross if you ask me. I'm from the country (don't live there now) and have never been a fan of the chicken coops.

That dresser looks awesome. It's exactly how I'd like my dresser to look. I've been trying to research the best way to paint furniture to make it look just right and would love to know exactly how she did it. Like what type of paint (oil based, laquer)? What sheen? How many coats? Sand btwn coats? Varnish it? I'm so lost. Pretty new at this too. And I've learned in my recent research that I've been doing it all wrong up to this point. I'd hate to mess up an item that big and important.
