I get it shagreen is a beautiful material - and I have used faux shagreen on multiple projects. But why even suggest to use actual shark skin or sting ray skin. Can you even argue that these animals are sustainably harvested in a human way? Shagreen: The Skin of Rays Sharks Retrospect | Apartment Therapy New York |

I used to live a few blocks from this store. As a fellow designer, I often pressed my face up to the glass to catcha glimpse inside. The store appeared as more of a design studio with sales reps walking around - so I was always intimidated to enter. Most of their fabrics were from kravet - cute but a little cheesy. Renting a Christmas tree is a great purchase/ vote that you can make for sustainability. True, in the grand scheme of things it may not make that big of a difference - however it can influence others and provide people with an opportunity to do something good. $59 is a lot for a pillow...however really think about it. These are textile designers, there is significant effort to coming up with the textile design, then the manufacturing, then the shipping, and fill, and marketing efforts. If you want a cheap pillow walk to a big box store and buy one. The fill will probably ball up and get lumpy, the stitches will stretch and the fabric will pill. I really love when people use words as artwork. I like the custom decals that you can make on blik to say whatever you want. I would want mine to say something ridiculous...like the lyrics to "its the end of the world as we know it.." by REM The Writing Is On The Wall: Messages in Artwork | Apartment Therapy New York |

Hmmm...The "holes" you are referring to are called grommets (sp?) Anway, you can buy grommet covers perhaps at home depot (the black rim that evenly traces over the edge of the hole you made). I would buy a few of these and test it out a few times on some reclaimed scrap wood. The grommet ring should hide scratches caused by the initial cut.
