I get it shagreen is a beautiful material - and I have used faux shagreen on multiple projects. But why even suggest to use actual shark skin or sting ray skin. Can you even argue that these animals are sustainably harvested in a human way?

Why not just promote the fantastic faux shagreen options or a DIY method? The idea of sustainably harvesting fish from depleted oceans just really misses the boat.

Fish...have you ever seen a fish tank that hasn't been cleaned in a few days.

It turns out fish are living animals and they need to eat and poop - so inconvenient for the table. I mean really, you think the fish would try harder to keep their space clean...

I used to live a few blocks from this store. As a fellow designer, I often pressed my face up to the glass to catcha glimpse inside. The store appeared as more of a design studio with sales reps walking around - so I was always intimidated to enter. Most of their fabrics were from kravet - cute but a little cheesy.

Renting a Christmas tree is a great purchase/ vote that you can make for sustainability. True, in the grand scheme of things it may not make that big of a difference - however it can influence others and provide people with an opportunity to do something good.

Think of it more as a symbol.

$59 is a lot for a pillow...however really think about it. These are textile designers, there is significant effort to coming up with the textile design, then the manufacturing, then the shipping, and fill, and marketing efforts. If you want a cheap pillow walk to a big box store and buy one. The fill will probably ball up and get lumpy, the stitches will stretch and the fabric will pill.

Good design is worth paying for! Especially Alexander Girard. I bought that pillow and it was worth every penny. It is a classic piece. I know I will be getting my money's worth when I reuse it multiple spaces.

I really love when people use words as artwork. I like the custom decals that you can make on blik to say whatever you want. I would want mine to say something ridiculous...like the lyrics to "its the end of the world as we know it.." by REM

SillyBee: That is so strange.... I worked for a showroom that repped Vagabond a few years ago and I never knew that. I wish I was a detective.

You could dip just about anything in a vat of metallics and I would love it.

Everybody loves a little sparkle...

Vagabond Vintage also has a little more decorative one - and I think it is a little cheaper.

I'm obsessed with the tree wall paper from Cole and Sons.

Heatherdazy: Similar versions of that chair are available all over jayson home and garden's website. Unfortunately, they are not very reasonable.

Hmmm...The "holes" you are referring to are called grommets (sp?) Anway, you can buy grommet covers perhaps at home depot (the black rim that evenly traces over the edge of the hole you made). I would buy a few of these and test it out a few times on some reclaimed scrap wood. The grommet ring should hide scratches caused by the initial cut.

Hope that helps!

I really just want to turn these chairs to face each other and spread them a little bit farther apart. Their packs could align with the outher edge of the fireplace....

I just really don't like that image.
