Julia Childs said that one should never admit defeat in the kitchen. She would power through a meal (even if it tasted like dirt) and learn from her mistakes.

Personally, I usually try my best to try everything (except mushrooms) and if it's not good I'll just not eat my portion.

@evansal3 - awesome, can't go wrong with alan moore...

i'd have to go bukowski for this:
Some people
never go crazy,
What truly horrible lives
they must live

or To Dorothy by Marvin Bell (either the first two or last two lines):
You are not beautiful, exactly.
You are beautiful, inexactly.
You let a weed grow by the mulberry
And a mulberry grow by the house.
So close, in the personal quiet
Of a windy night, it brushes the wall
And sweeps away the day till we sleep.

A child said it, and it seemed true:
"Things that are lost are all equal."
But it isn't true. If I lost you,
The air wouldn't move, nor the tree grow.
Someone would pull the weed, my flower.
The quiet wouldn't be yours. If I lost you,
I'd have to ask the grass to let me sleep.

yep, next week the boyfriend is staying over (he's from out of town) while i work during the day. i can't wait to see what he finds/tries to find while i'm out of the house. should be interesting for the both of us...

but, other than that, i HATE knowing that people have been in my house when i'm not at home. it feels like a weird invasion of privacy (even if it's the landlord and she's got a key)... that's my place, those are my walls and my stuff in there. no one (except the bf) allowed w/o me there.

That just screams HELVETICA at me. I don't think I could have it in my place, though I really like the concept.

It's not food related - but clean up related and I felt like Lucille Ball... I put regular dish soap in the dish washer (I didn't know there was a difference). Needless to say 15 minutes later there were bubbles coming out of the washer covering my ex's kitchen floor. I was laughing so hard trying to clean/kill all the bubbles, I tried waking him but he wasn't a morning person. It took FOREVER to clean, but the floors were beautiful and the towels went right into the washer (thank goodness it didn't start a new bubble process)... But man, all those tiny little bubbles were evil.

that first one reminds me of lock, stock and two smoking barrels with the cage that the pot growers have & keep forgetting to lock up... i don't really like any of them, but understand that they would be needed in colder climates to keep the outside out in the cold winter months.

once again, it sounds naughty but it isn't:

http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/

it pixelates images to whatever size you want, based on the original image, and then how many sheets of paper you feel like putting together and works in either black and white or color.

Also - How I would mount this: I would just adhere the chips to poster board, matte board or fome-core cut to size for a frameless image. You could also adhere to MDF with a hole drilled in the backside for flush wall mounting...

@parrishnut - i'm pretty sure you could get any book of FLW house plans from the library and take it to a local architect to get them updated for the 20th century (aka better wiring and such)... or look for the Wasmuth Portfolio, actual title: Studies and Executed Buildings of Frank Lloyd Wright - it's got lithographs of his early works (pre-Taliesin prairie houses & hotel designs).
